Jessica is still famous. She's more famous for her persona then her actual talent but she is famous. The woman has a great voice I really don't understand why she can't get her music career off the ground.
I only wish happiness for her. -

You cant say shes not famous, the woman is worth 100million dollars. Even though she might not be singing and on the radio, her fashion, perfume and all of that net her SO much money. She went from a bubble pop singer to being a business woman, who happens to be extremely good at what she does otherwise she wouldn't be making that ridiculous amount of money that she makes.
use google before you decide to post about how someones career is dead, cause trust me, Jessica's is no where to being dead. You want a dead career? look at Tara Reid. -

She is probably one of the richest celebrities/businesswomen out there.
The music business is a dud these days unless you are Lady Gaga or Adele.
I've never really been big fan of her music but she was smart to stop relying on the music business to fill her pocket. -

Jessica was successful when she first came out in 1999, I believe she had 2 or 3 hits that year; I Wanna Luv U 4evr, I Think I'm In Luv With U, and the duet with Nick.
Her singing career didn't kick up again until Newlyweds and her song With You and yes since that it has been pretty lackluster musically; but 2003-2005 wasn't her only years of success.
It's really sad that she wasn't more successful with music because she had such a great voice.
I'm not reading your manifesto,
keep your damn posts short! -

"Jessica wasn't even 31 before her career died!"
So what? Lindsay Lohan wasn't even 21 when alcoholism and drug addiction killed HER career.

She made her first mistake by going the Britney Spears (I love Britney bu5b4t what works for her can only work for her IMO) route and then she made her second mistake by going the country route.

Brit dominated. Christina was runner up in white pop. Pink was the anti thesis to the dainty pop girls J-Lo had a Latin/hip-pop niche. Bey was black pop. The rest were fighting for a spot and couldn't do anything w/o being compared to Britney. Only thing admirable about her is her brand. She'll never cry broke.

She figured out what some other artists have notthat it's too much time and work to spend a lifetime recording, touring, and trying to stay in perfect shape when she could make just as much, if not more, money at home taking care of her kids.
Her fashion line is a billion dollar brand. I think Jessica was done with the pop scene after that whole mom jeans debacle. She said screw that

She didn't 5b4have an ear for hits, didn't sing all that well and couldn't dance. People didn't like how her divorce with Nick went down. She was also a bit unlikable at that point in her career.

There are the reasons mentioned above, but there's also the fact that she's a horrible performer. Everyone else mentioned (Britney, Xtina, Pink, etc.) can put on a good live show. Jessica has a decent voice and is pretty, but her stage presence sucks.

She just didn't stand out against Britney. The best thing that happened for her singing career was Newlyweds. After the divorce, she didn't really have any stand out singles on the follow up record. When she tried to go country, her relationship with Tony Romo and the brief "feud" between her and Carrie Underwood overshadowed it.
At this point, she just can sit back and collect her checks from WW and the clothing line. -

Boy do I have to agree with her being a terrible performer. I saw her on some TV special, while she did look great in shorts and boots her performance was just painful to watch. She was basically trying to dance while singing and just endb68ed up kind of stomping around on the stage.

She was really popular for awhile with her reality tv show..seems like newlyweds really made her more famous than her actual music. She got a lot of gigs because of that show. By acting like a spoiled ditz she got a lot of attention. I still remember the "is this chicken or tuna?" Thing lol
She was everywhere for awhile..tv commercials, movies, etc. even her sister got some fame because of Jessica's show.
I think eventually the hot ditz schtick got old and she didn't really have the lasting power of other pop stars.
If she tried to act like a hot ditz these days she'd be ridiculed off tvtoo many feminists etc and too many strong women advocates to go for that now.
Also, I don't think Britney Spears would have lasted as long as she has without her public meltdown back in 07-08. She was already fading by that point, but her meltdown pushed her back into the limelight and she got tons of attention for her antics. People love a good underdog story, and when Britney got better people kept rooting for her. Her meltdown was probably the best thing that happened to her, it's helped her stick around longer. No one really remembers her for her current music.shes not a very good singer and has lost her dance moves..we remember her for old music and her meltdown.
