I'm a new fan of hers. I was listening to one song which I thought was just awesome. Its called "Pissing in a River"(doesn't sound appealing but I loved it) and I really loved her voice and the lyrics. Is there any songs you guys can reccomend or any album for that matter?

Today I just watched her performance on Saturady Night Live back in the mid seventies. Yes she is beautiful because she represents so much. I'm happy that at least at one time we had people like Patti Smith that were attractive because of who they were, not because of what they looked like. Patti Smith has a wierd light around her that just makes her beautiful.

I have nothing but admiration for Patti Smith too. She's incredibly talented and has stayed true to herself throughout the years. While a lot of young girls are drawn to Courtney Love (the shallow, posturing side of rock) it's a real shame that they don't get into Patti Smith instead. She's the real deal.

She certainly is! I have been totally in awe of her since "Horses" came out- I saw her twice at LA's Roxy theater, gigs within 3 months of each other. She is so insanely intelligent, articulate and insightful, to say nothing of how much I love her music! She may not be a technically great singer but her voice has always cast such a spell over me.I also saw her a few years back at a convention, she came out and spoke and then later came out and sang with her band. When she did, a bunch of people (including me) ran up to the stage edge. I could have reached out and touched her feetShe is such an icon! I picked up yesterday's NY Times with her on the front page, just for the novelty of it- seemed like a dream!
