This is one of the most rediculous strings I've ever seen. Apparently everyone's seen a total of about 3-4 of Mary Steenburgen's works. Sure, Melvin and Howard won her an Oscar and Globe. BTTF III was her biggest box office with the possible exception of Elf. But if you really want to talk like you know about Mary Steenburgen I suggest you see a representative range of her work like from a patronly mother in Ragtime to a middle aged sexpot mother in Life Is a House. Or her excellent comedic timing in Romantic Comedy and A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy. How about the range it took from an over-the-hill debutant in Miss Firecracker to a mentally challenged mother in About Sarah. Listen to her outstanding singing voice in The Butcher's Wife bearing in mind that Jessica Lange had to dub her singing in Sweet Dreams yet was nominated for an Oscar. See her spooky performance in Dead of Winter. How about the range it took to portray a lawyer in Philadelphia to a Vegas card dealer in Nobody's Baby? And how does a "Horrid" actress wind up working with the likes of: Ron Howard, Jonathan Demme, Milos Forman, Woody Allen, Robert Zemeckis, Oliver Stone, Arthur Penn, and John Sayles? Ask her co-stars what they think of her like: Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson, Alfre Woodard, Roddy McDowall, Holly Hunter, Steve Martin, Diane Wiest, Jason Robards, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Piper Laurie, Walter Matthau, Sissy Spacek, Jack Lemmon, Gary Oldman, Sean Penn, Colin Firth, and Minnie Driver. Mary Steenburgen is not mainstream. She has carefully selected rolls off the beaten track for the challenge. Very few actresses today have the range or talent of Mary Steenburgen. Comedy, drama, horror, romance, singing and dancing. Yeah, just watch her in the closing credits of Nobody's Baby! And how many actresses with the possible exception of Charlotte Rampling have been able to successfully pull off a nude scene in her third movie and then pull it off again 21 years later?

I have had the considerable priviledge of working with Mary as a Script Supervisor in her most recent role as a psychologist on the movie NUMB. She is amazing to watch and is one of the very best actresses I have worked with. Not only that but she is the nicest of women. People, any people, don't come nicer than she is. I will always remember with great fondness my days on set with her and the few conversations we had. She was pure joy to be with and work with. I can't wait to see the finished movie and her in it.

I met her and Ted at a read by Tony Shalhoub on Martha's Vineyard. They are so very nice. I broke the ice with her because I was an extra on three episodes of Joan Of Arcadia.

                            Worst. Actress. Ever.
No, I cannot agree with you on that. Not the 'worst' and 'ever' part Anne Hesche owns that title! Besides, Mary is still shagable-even at her age!!! What can I say, I want to be in a cougar hunt
