Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — June Foray

There was an episode of The Dukes which featured a very young Danny Cooksey playing an orphan. Did anyone who saw this episode notice that Danny's voice was dubbed over by June? She was not credited in the cast listing but anyone who saw the episode could tell it was her. I always wondered why they didn't use Danny's real voice.

I know this is 2 years late in response but that episode is on right now on CMT. Its the episode titled "A Boys Best Friend from Season 6(1983) and yep it sure is her voice dubbing for him. A year later he was on Different Strokes and his voice sounded normal. So
all I can figure is that with kids your voice changes a lot in a short time so a year earlier he may have had a high squeaky baby voice that was unintelligible.
Given that though , I still dont get why they hired a 63 yo woman to dub an 8yo boys voice? He sounds like Rocky the squirrel. I'm sure there must have been hundreds of little boys who auditioned for the role in this episode, why didnt they just pick another kid who had a decent voice? Cookseys folks must have had a good agent to not only get him the role but pay someone else to dub his voice and not even get credit for it.
So, a thought crossed your mind? Must have been a long and lonely journey
