She showed such promise in Almost Famous

Totally agree! What a waste of talent! Now she's on beep Glee?! Talk about rock bottoming it!
I don't know if it was bad representation or simply poor taste but I guess she didn't get great offers and one bad movie leads to another.
I find it interesting that most post in the thread are about how awesome McConaughey is (like him or not, even if he did a 180 in the past couple of years, he did have a long series of terrible movies, bad choices and lazy performances before that so the OP was right)
Ironically, it also pretty much epitomizes the gender gap in Hollywood. How many women who wasted their talent on romcoms have been or will be afforded a second chance in serious parts after they turn 40, I wonder

I'm watching
Almost Famous
, and like the rest of the people in this thread, am shocked that she never did anything good again.
Maybe she really isn't a particularly good actress, but that Cameron Crowe is a talented director, and used her genuine charisma to excellent effect. And that without a great director telling his life story she had to fall back on her skills, and they2000just aren't there. -

I was just thinking this same thing when I saw
Almost Famous
in the Netflix lineup. She was sooo good. Maybe she could team up with Crowe again.
[That said, I personally can't stand McConaugheyI believe he acts the same character in every movie. The Oscar? The Academy will give one to any actor who loses (or sometimes gains) a lot of weightoften a biopic is enough (especially for an actress): Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Tom Hanks (Philadelphia), Christian Bale (The Fighter) Watch Jake Gyllenhaal get a nomination for
The Nightcrawler

The thing is that comedy is actually harder than drama. So Kate Hudson has pretty much spent her 2000s career being miscast. She does have some acting talent but it seems that these romantic comedies are the only parts she can get, even if she's not suited to comedy. I suggest watching her in The Skeleton Key - she shows off some great charisma in a serious role and I even see shades of some Jennifer Lawrence-like badass attitude. It's a shame that there's not more action roles for females in Hollywood, because I could see Kate Hudson doing really well as an action star.

I couldn't disagree with you more, I think Hudson is a lightweight who is perfect for romantic comedies. Unfortunately for Hudson romantic comedies died a few years ago. I think Hudson would be terrible in an action role. Male or female, it takes a certain kind of actor to convincingly pull off action roles and Hudson is not that kind of actor.

Agreed!
So much potential going to waste. She was amazing in Almost Famous and hhad much potential. Instead she took on the same roles her mother took in the 80's, which pretty much ended Goldie's career.
Let's hope she gets different roles that lead to career revival cause he needs it. -

Her career is horrible.. She had one of the best female lead role ever written in almost famous. She had all the potential in the world and gave great performances in okay films such as "how to lose a guy" and "the skeleton key". It looks like she got lazy.
