Yeah, I remember that incident with the presents, and someone else wanting to throw a gift at her - she didn't like that idea either! Don't suppose you saw what the guy was trying to throw did you - he was in back of me so I couldn't see - hope it was something soft though! I recall that same night there was a young woman in front of me with a large bouquet of flowers, which she kept breaking off and tossing onto the stage, one of which hit Tony Shanahan in the face, and finally Patti said "Will you stop throwing things? Death by flying flowers ain't how I want to go!" Bet that girl felt like st! Patti doesn't seem to accept presents graciously, unlike Stevie Nicks, who takes everything her fans hand her then donates them to children in hospitals - how sweet! Speaking of flowers, one night in Asbury Park (May 2001), she came out with a basket of rose petals and began sprinkling the stage with them and throwing them out over the audience. My friends and I were right in front. (I usually get up pretty close, but this show we were literally front and center). She actually spit on me which wasn't very pleasant. But after the show, when the crew was taking apart the stage, one of my friends grabbed the basket. I didn't know this until the ride home. I was driving and she put the basket in my lap. I was like "What the hell is this?" She just 1908laughed. I said to her, "No way!! You didn't!" Wellshe laughed again. It's funny because there were still rose pieces in the basket and strands of Patti's hair stuck to it. Oh wellThat's rock and roll!
