^Great point! IF this were a middle-aged Hollywood actress married to a 16/17 year old guy, people would be talking, but most likely not ridicule her as much. Most people would probably find it amusing, but not as outraged. I bet the women from the View would probably give her a hi-five for it, but I doubt she would be out of work, & shunned by Hollywood. Just shows the hypocrisy & double standard of it all. Women=Hot Cougars, Men=Dirty Old Men.
I beg to differ. If you don't think a 51 yr old woman (celebrity) marrying a 16 yr old boy would recieve just as much scrutiny, you're delusional. The majority of the public would see it as equally repulsive.

Look what happened with Mary Kay Letourneau, many men were praising the kid. Hell, I would give a 16-year-old boy high-five if he snatched a fine looking cougar. At 16 I would have loved to have been that kid, any male would. I don't consider it rape or taken advantage of. We are out to get the pussy from 12/13 up no matter theb68 age. I was trying to bang my teacher at 14, I would have felt accomplished even at the age I am now (28) if I would have succeeded. It's just different between girls and boys, always will be. I don't see how anyone can say otherwise. -

Just out of curiousity,
How would you guys feel if the genders were reversed?
What if some 16/17 year old guy fell in love and married a hot cougar, would you feel just as disgusted if the genders were reversed?
Most likely. But to be honest, it's more the fact the he just comes off as one creepy beep, not so much the age difference.

Not suprising in the least. This guy played a creepy, sadistic SOB in The Green Mile. No morally sound person would have ever respected the disgusting low-life he portrayed.
And look at thishe actually turns 16d0out to be a total creep in real life. He even looks creepy in the marriage pictures. I suppose part of the brilliance of The Green Mile was the casting director's keen eye for assessing the natual charachter of an actor and how he would fit into a certain role.
Go figure. -

if it wasn't for the make-up and hair she could almost look normal. i think you'd find lots of fellas would take an interest in her. but marriage? whoops.
however, 16 is too young to get married to anyone, regardless of the spouse's age.
hopefully Doug wasn't her first. it'd be tragic if she locked in to one person with nil experience.

Hmmm. I guess he married her rather than enjoy some kind of relationship for a short while. So that is admirable as he's given her a status to counteract negative comment from family or we onlookers.
Many have accused him of being 'paedo', but I have the opinion that a paedo is attracted by somebody who looks like a child. I don't think his missus has done that. She's done the typical teenage thing of attempting to look as old as she can.
Besides that, he's not done himself any favours on several levels. He's either been a victim of her street wiseness, or vice versa.
I feel he might be fooling himself if he thinks it will last into the times he has middle aged/elderly illness and expects her to support him.
I guess I've been a cougar, and my sis' husband is 13yrs younger than her. I respect her hubby and think he's more fun and has more get up and go than any guy she's dated. But she worries now that he's hit 'that' age.
As an actor, I've respected Doug for the work I've seen. I was completely knocked out by his portrayal as Percy in The Green Mile. I've been delighted to recognize him in other movies too.
