I can't think of any bad performances, either. I also agree that Up the Down Staircase is one of her best. I loved her as Honey in Virginia Woolf. Sandy Dennis certainly deserved the Oscar she won that year!

Just saw COME BACK TO THE 5 & DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN for the first time! (huge Robert Altman fan)She was SOOO GOOD! In my stupidity, however, I thought she might've been Karen Black until "Joanne" shows up about halfway through!I just kept thinking 'Man, she's aged since NASHVILLE' - Terrible, huh? May she rest in peace.

It's hard to pick one favorite performance of hers as I loved them all. But if I had to choose it would be SWEET NOVEMBER. Honorable mentions to THAT COLD DAY IN THE PARK AND UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE. The original SWEET NOVEMBER was such an heartbreaking film and she gave a great performance.

Most definitely "Come Back to the Five and Dime", in my opinion, was her greatest performance. I also wish they would put out a DVD of this film.
No, no"cruelty." I always think that has a nobler ring to it. -

I thought she was perfect in "JIMMY DEAN" and also ANOTHER WOMAN. I thought she was hilarious in NASTY HABITS. I will have to seek out some of the other above mentioned films as she is one of my favorite actresses.
