The funny thing in this movie is the old men in the hair saloon referring to "Kunta Kinte" each time the prince shows up there.
John Amos played Kunta Kinte in the Alex Hailey tv series "Roots" in the seventies. -

John Amos played Kunta Kinte in the Alex Hailey tv series "Roots" in the seventies. "- Nope, that was LeVar Burton. John Amos was in The Roots, but his character's name was "Toby".
I know him pretty much only from Good Times and Coming To America

You are wrong, both LeVar Burton and John Amos played Kunte Kinte; "Toby" is the slave name of Kunte Kinte. Burton was the young Kunte Kinte and John Amos the older Kunte Kinte.

I didn't even recognize him in this film for a long while!
I keep remembering him as James in "Good Times"!
He seemed taller on the show too.
