Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Evelyn Ankers

    jeffyoung1 — 15 years ago(April 10, 2010 10:55 PM)

Evelyn Ankers stood 5'8" tall. That was definitely a tall woman for her time. Even today in 2010, she would be a tall actress in Hollywood. Ankers starred in movies at a time when actresses averaged between 5'2" and 5'5", with 5'6" being considered tall.

Probably why she was paired with Lon Chaney Jr.- at 6"2 or so he would've made dwarves out of most female leads
"Of course it's me, who were you expecting?"

That would have been okay in some of his roles such as The Monster in "Ghost of Frankenstein" or as The Wolf Man (As Lawrence it was great that he wasn't immensely taller)
I can't imagine anyone else in Evelyn's roles

Actually, we did see somebody else in one of her roles. Ilona Massey took the role of Elsa in Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man, which Evelyn had played in the previous film. But..of the two, I definitely liked Evelyn better.
