He was huge in Buffy. Not sure why he couldnt have been the next big romantic lead or action hero. He could have played a chris pratt similar role for Guardians of the Galaxy

I don't think alcohol has anything to do with it. The alcohol only started within the past year or so. Perhaps he just wanted to be a TV star or couldn't find parts. Alot of TV stars can't get past that typecast thing and maybe that was his problem. People always thought of him as Xander and nothing else. Look at James Van Der Beek everyone thinks of him as Dawson he'll never get a huge starring role. He's typecast Sure he might star in the occasional bit part TV show or maybe he'll get a TV show but he'll always be known as Dawson he's typecast. Now Joshua Jackson on the other hand he got lucky.. he got lucky..

Well he kept it hidden. Well maybe I should say his recent bouts with the law happened within a year or so. I met him 2 years ago and he was totally cool and he seemed to have everything going on but flash forward to 2 years later and now he's going downhill

I met him a few years back as well, at Dragoncon. He was nice, and I enjoyed meeting him. But I noticed in the panels a lot of times he would show up late, or something just seemed off. Like he wouldn't give real an5b4swers to people's questions. Some of that's probably just his sense of humor but he could have just been up drinking/partying the night before that he was just out of it and that's kind of the sense I got.

He has been an alcoholic since "Buffy: the Vampire Slayer".actually, before that. His alcoholism didn't become an issue when he worked for Joss Whedon, but after that it made it difficult for him to keep getting stellar roles.

Remember when he went on "Dr. Phil"? That was the most illogical thing he had ever done. For someone who is not that busy, one would think he would actually know who Dr. Phil is and how he treats his guests on his show. It's beyond pitiful that Nicholas hasn't gotten his act together. He could very well win an Oscar if he had a polished reputation but his lack of maturity is what keeps him from succeeding. His health fails repeatedly while his fans enable his destructive behavior instead of pushing him to take responsibility for his actions. People like Nicholas need tough love not rehab. If he wants to get better, he has to be ambitious.driven. He's not, he's just a little boy. It is bizarre that his fans share their stories of drug addiction, recovery in addition to personal photos on his FB page as a way to show support. The fact is, that never works because it tells a self-destructive person that he can continue to destroy himself and no one will hate him. He is reliant upon fans' love and adoration for part of his success. Imagine what would happen if they finally just stopped paying attention to him altogether? No more Comic Con events! And those pay a lot of money!
