Well, considering he's totally lacking in any form of 'talent' and the last time I saw a pic of him, he weighed about 250 lbs., it shouldn't be that surprising that he isn't working.

I don't know when that photo was taken (that you are referring to), but I just saw him (in person) earlier this month and he looked great (certainly much less than 250#) ~ and he was very pleasant to talk to

Oh, he probably is a nice guy, but he was quite a porker for a while, not that there is anything wrong with that. I'm fat. And there are guys out there who like fat gay men. Anyway, it doesn't change his inability to act.

Well, I have to disagree with you on the "lack of talent."
He was very funny on Buffy,2000 and I'm watching a movie right now that he's in (I wasn't expecting to see him, actually) and he's very good at playing a psycho. I was surprised to see him looking so old though. I watched Buffy about a year after it started, and he looked very young then, so I assumed he really was about 17 or 18. I had no idea that he's actually older than me.
Anyway, this is just a thought, but maybe he doesn't want Hollywood fame. Maybe he's happy in the roles he's in. I know it's hard to believe, but not everybody wants "spotlight fame." Some people just want to act, and not be in every little thing available. -

the guy did good work on Buffy. But from what I understand he got that role with no experience and as a first timer. Buffy may have started as a breakout role but very easily could have become an albatross around his neck, especially if he carried his Xanderisms into other auditions.
I dig his work as Xander a lot. He is the heart of the show. Im sorry to hear about his addiction problems, and hope its true that he has gotten past that.
For the record, he has appeared a little on Criminal Minds since the arrest tho his role, small to begin with, has been noticeably scaled back to almost nothing. Given his role is love interest to the human Fragile Rock on the phones, probably not a bad thing. -

LMAO! Blacklisted? He has little talent and he is a drunk. He's not Lindsay Lohan so nobody will but up with that nonsense. He should have taken acting classes and went to auditions for good roles.

He got a good role on the indie sci-fi film
Coherence
. Worth checking out.
Strangely, he's playing a character who suspiciously resembles Nicholas Brendon - in the film, he's a struggling actor looking for work who was once one of the leads on
Roswell
and is recovering from a drinking problem. -

No, I don't think he's been blacklisted. I think he was sort of typecast after Buffy, as the 'comic relief' and probably had trouble getting work. Then he had his battles with drinking and the like (remember, even RDJ had trouble finding work for a while while he was fighting his addiction battles).
What I don't understand is why he's one of the few "Whedon" cast members not to get used in other projects? I mean, Joss reuses almost all his Buffy cast for other stuff (Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, etc.) but I don't think he's ever done so with Nick. I've always wondered why (especially when Joss has stated, publicly, that his favorite character from Buffy is Xander).
I would love to see Nicky on
Agents of Shield
for example.
