I am reading 'The Stranger Beside Me'and IF it is accurate, I must say Bundy was truly a baffling character. I say this because he did not actually seem to lack empathy in is everyday life (as is pretty much 'required' to become a killer) . As an example: Ann Rule says he would indeed steal carsbut only from the people he felt could afford to lose it ??? Like after he took one car he could see that someone had put a lot of work into it, so he didn't take it because he felt bad !
There are a few other references to him 'sparing' people's feelings and the like in his relationships. I just find that very very odd. Are there other examples of someone so completely brutal also having such empathy at times too? -

Well, he only killed women, if I remember correctly. Maybe, because he was mentally unstable, he was able to justify it in his head that the women he killed deserved it?
