The world needs to hear that beautiful voice of his again.
he doesn't have to reprise POTO to hear it perhaps he might find a role where he can

      I need to.
He has a GORGEOUS singing voice, and I think his role as the Phantom really brought that out. Besides, I'm just anxious to see him (along w/ the original 2004 movie cast) in
      Love Never Dies
      .

They should quit while they are ahead or behind, depending on your point of view. If the silly title is any indicator, this is apt to be another stinker.
No way this bad ass Butler could reprise the Phantom role. Mr. Sensitive is now Mr. Sadist. That ship has sailed, along with the studio enhanced voice in the film.

            Annie,
I can't agree with his loves Lobster was too weird even with Colin and Rachel it got rough. Witch was too flat and slow, and there is NO WAY ON EARTH Love and Friendship can be in top 10 - so dull and I love Kate B and watched it for her.
GOE - not a surprise ding, not the best, but not dull Gerry supporting role was the best in it along with Nicolaj. It no way compared to rock bottom sci-fi wreck ID Resurgence.
Are you going to see Nocturnal Animals? I loved
it, but it's a thriller that divides opinion.
My must see on big screen is Passengers

              KeepersBurns,
GOE- for what it was, wasn't all that bad. It was just jarring the first time Gerard spoke but I love it when he speaks naturally
Probably not re:Animals I did very much like Ford's A Single Man but Adams I just can't stomach her (Renner saved Arrival for me)
did see Miss Sloane and Chastain was very good- will see her next up in Zookeepers Wife with Daniel Bruhl whom I like
Passengers isn't performing well but do let me know if you like it
              Next up for me
              Silence/Hidden Figures
Saw A Monster Calls and Felcity Jones was incredible. The entire cast was perfect and everyone in the theatre cried at it's end
(I kept wondering why Sheridan/Villenueve/Ford/don't reach out to Butler for these sorts of roles- why he doesn't approach them. Maybe he's just not motivated enough
It's ashame really as I like to think he has it in him to deliver an emotional performance in the vein of Dear Frankie/The Jury)
EDIT- Butler has 2 films on this list I don't agree but sheesh

                everyone,
not at all surprised given the multiple release dates due to regime changes at WB
sounds as if once the film was relooked at in post- some things didn't work/adjustments made to tone/themes
reshoots become expensive when they are not planned for owing to have to reassemble the principal cast/locations returned to
Marvel always includes in their contracts a 2 week reshoot period if necessary
he5b4y World War Z and Rogue One underwent extensive reshoots and they turned out pretty well

DECEMBER 16, 2016 11:47am PT by Rebecca Ford, Borys Kit
Warner Bros., Skydance's 'Geostorm' Undergoes Reshoots, Brings on Jerry Bruckheimer (Exclusive)
The troubled project starring Gerard Butler hired a new director for the reshoots after pushing the release date multiple times.
Skydance, David Ellison's company, is facing some bad weather.
Geostorm, the companys big-budget Gerard Butler environmental disaster movie, is undergoing significant reshoots as producers try to rejig the movie that was to have showcased the directorial debut of producer and screenwriter Dean Devlin.
Danny Cannon, who directed the 1995 Sylvester Stallone action movie Judge Dredd and has since become a reliable television helmer on such shows such as Gotham, is directing the reshoots which are being overseen by newly-installed producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
The reshoots are not just light spruce-ups, either. Up to to $15 million is being spent, according to sources, and some notable characters are even being jettisoned from the script.
Studio insiders play down the reshoots, terming them "pick-ups," and say the high cost is due to reassembling the international cast close to two years after the movie had wrapped principal photography. Also on the docket was significant visual effects work and music work.
Geostorm marks the feature directorial debut of Devlin, who made his name writing and producing Roland Emmerichs disaster tentpoles such as Stargate and Independence Day. Butler plays a man who heads into space to prevent climate-controlling satellites from creating a man-made storm of epic proportions. At the same time, he and his estranged brother learn of a plot to assassinate the president.
Geostorm is not only a big bet for Devlin as his directorial debut, but for Skydance, which is using the project, like it did with 2015's Terminator: Genysis, to transform the company from a film financier to a full-fledged creative production company. Ellisons Skydance Productions independently produced and financed the film with Devlin's Electric Entertainment before it was picked up by Warner Bros. even though the company has a first-look deal with Paramount and has co-financed many of Paramount's key franchises, such Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation and Star Trek Into Darkness. According to sources, Greg Silverman, who announced Dec. 14 that he is leaving his studio post as Warners president of worldwide production, initiated the relationship with Skydance.
Geostorm began shooting in October, 2014 in Louisiana and was initially slated for release on Oct. 21, 2016. But when test screenings in December, 2015 resulted in below average or not bad but room for improvement (as one insider put it) feedback, it was decided that the movie needed some work. In early 2016, Bruckheimer, the producer behind such mega-projects as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, was brought in to consult as Skydance pondered whether to try to make changes in post or to prep for re-shoots. In the meantime, the release date moved to January 2017 and then to Oct. 20, 2017, its current slot.
5b4Multiple sources say the reshoots took place from Dec. 3-14 in Louisiana. The changes are significant. New characters, including a female scientist, have been added, while like a character played by Vikings star Katheryn Winnicks was recast. Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) wrote the new pages for the reshoots.
Insiders say that Devlin remains on board as the director of the movie but was unavailable to film the reshoots. The companies received a DGA dispensation to allow another director to helm the new scenes, say the insiders.
In todays landscape of big budget films, reshoots and additional photography are not an indicator that a film wont be successful. In fact, additional photography is now routinely added into the schedule and budget.
And even the most troubled of projects can sometimes find success in the end. For example, 2013s World War Z, which Skydance was in involved with, suffered multiple setbacks, bringing on Damon Lindelof and Drew Goddard to rewrite the third act but ultimately was a commercial success, grossing over $540 million.
Likewise, for the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, which is hitting theaters this weekend, Lucasfilm and Disney bought on Tony Gilroy to write and help oversee extensive reshoots for a top-to-bottom makeover of film. The Felicity Jones-starrer has received strong reviews and is expected to be have the second biggest Decemb68ber domestic box office opening ever (behind 2015s The Force Awakens).
Geostorm will be one of two original Skydance productions for 2017. The company also developed and made the sci-fi thriller Life, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds and that Sony will release March 24.

on Monday on FB Q& A with Butler ( I'd never submit a question in this manner. Mine would be buried at the end- resigned to the "Sorry we don't have enough time" pile. I expect the answers will have been heard all before and nothing new will be said. There might be a moment when he lets something slip out- its time such as these I appreciate an actor. The actors I have met were in non formalized settings)

Gerry looks good in that photo too, as he does in Facebook candid from Friday with friends.
Thanks for posting it and his interview.
Noticing the ET pic of Hilary Swank can't help but think shouldn't these 2 work together again? They hit it off in PS I Love You, so it's a nice thought. Haven't seen Hilary in Anything in eons, and she 111chas her Oscar, but when an actor doesn't get seen at all in movies, it seems to snowball into them Never Ever getting work again.
Have you heard anything about Hilary coming up? She has 2 movies in post, out in 2017.
Nothing 2015 and 1 for voice work only 2016 on her IMDb. Did she decide to take a break for a couple years, or was it the industry putting her on the shelf? Or Hilary was just not offered anything good?
Been gone, taking a break myself I had a bit of surgery. Distracting stuff. Glad to check out this board again. And there's good news finally with Keepers!
                        Hope you're well,
                        kidi

missing my brothers very much- they left me here by myself got up enough nerve the other day to listen to Renner singing w/o crying but I could hear them teasing me

                          glad your surgery went well
Keepers seems to be the kind of film where atmosphere will be everything- if its done in the manner of Picnic at Hanging Rock it will be awesome with a bit of The Thing (still one of the best depictions I have seen regarding paranoia) and Shutter Island tossed in for good measure- a "little film" if you will
