Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — David Cassidy

    PretoriaDZ — 13 years ago(May 20, 2012 10:00 AM)

He's doing publicity to alert people to the huge increase that is expected in the Alzheimer population (due to the number of baby boomers that are reaching old age). His mother is 89 this year.

This is the article. I want to alert people of a comment that was made in the article.
David's mum, Evelyn Ward, will be 89 on 23 May. In the 2-1/2 years prior to her placement seven years ago, David hadn't seen nor spoken to her. This was by his choice and design, and not hers. That he considers himself "lucky" to be able to "afford" her care is commendable. If anything, his contributions are minimal. Social Security, Medicare, pensions, and other taxpayer funds are largely responsible for her care. David's mum was admitted to the psychiatric ward of a local hospital for an initial 72-hr. observation hold after one of her neighbors contacted LA County/Adult Protective Services to report concerns. APS, along with 7 LAPD units, arrived at her residence's doorstep on 29 July 2005, just as she was sitting down to breakfast. She was involuntarily taken to the hospital from there, and not "found in her nightgown in the middle of the road after midnight." Where David conjured up the idea of that is a mystery.
