Cavill confirmed the he would not be reprising the role of Superman in a statement shared on Instagram.
“It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,” Cavill wrote. “I respect that James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes"

Honestly when it comes to the character of "
SUPERMAN
".
I think that Henry Cavill has played the role Fantastically and I really think that James Gunn is making a mistake by not keeping him in the role.
If James Gunn wants to do his own thing with "
SUPERMAN
" and start over then he should do it with Henry Cavill since he is so good in the role. LOL, don't try and fix something if it isn't even broke in the first place. -

Keeping Cavill in a reboot could be very confusing especially when he's so associate with Snyderverse, it's why Superman & Lois didn't use Tom Welling and Erica Durance.
Despite Cavill's popularity online general audiences don't really care for him as Superman, not many people liked Man Of Steel, not many people like BVS, not many people saw Zack Snyder's Justice League if they did it was too little too late very much like Cavill's Superman.
The sad truth is general audiences have moved on and may have forgotten that Cavill was Superman largely because WB didn't capitalise on Cavill as Superman. -

Recasting and rebooting Superman was inevitable, we've seen it time and time again with sports teams that aren't doing very well sometimes you have to split apart the team in order to start over with a new couch and new quarterback.
If you wanted Cavill back you needed to support Black Adam and the film needed to be a hit because it tells the studio and financers that people want to see more of him.
