I wasn't sure it was just me but yeah - he comes off as WAY too hyperpartisan for the mainstream. I mean, its fine for a medium like Comedy Central, where that type of zaniness is more or less expected, but even Letterman attempted to come across as toeing the line so as not to come off as alienating a significant chunk of the viewership (even if he started to jump the shark post-2008).
I maintain to this day that the more natural successor to the host position was Craig Ferguson, who from the looks of it is no more or less liberal than Letterman or Colbert, but who wouldn't have pulled obnoxious/polarizing stunts like drawing a Swastika to explain Trump's views on immigration post-Orlando shootings, let alone crashing the 2016 Republican Convention dressed like a Hunger Games emcee in a turban. As of now, I've never seen a mainstream host draw this type of negative attention to himself.
