Did he quit or was he fired?

It was supposedly a combination of things. He didn't like the diminished role of his character and the producers reportedly wouldn't let him off to do a role in The Hobbit.
He also was unenthusiastic about his promotional duties for the show.
He started sulking and creating tension on the set and they let him go. -

I watched the first episode of season 2 of Scandal today (also mainly watched for him because I liked him on Lost) and I thought without him there it just wasn't the same. It felt lacking and as much as I like Olivia and Fitz together I liked him in it too.

He probably regrets leaving Scandal since nothing he has done is working out and Scandal is ABC top scripted Drama.
I am actually sick of all the Fitz stuff and it would be only a matter of time before other views get bored too. He should have just waited it out. -

I remember liking HIC on Scandal. but I wasnt too upset when he left. I just finished Lost though and LOVED him as Desmond. Now I really wish he hadnt left.
His character on Lost wasnt all that major either and he stuck it out, yet he didnt wanna be on Scandal? I guess he figured his star had risen and he deserved better? Sucks, I really wish we had a steady dose of HIC on TV.

He's a busy actor. This show; the Mentalist; CSI, Fringe, etc. I guess he might have felt constricted being limited to this one show. I liked his character. He was the one Olivia listened to the most. Too bad.

I just started watching Scandal and so when I got to the Second Season I was really disappointed to see HIC leave too! I agree that it was a bad move for him to quit but also the show should not have let him go. I kept waiting and hoping for something between his character and Abby as well. Don't understand why actors can't just be happy with whatever work they get.

Alas and alackI've since stopped watching the show.
Not because of HIC's departure; I simply got turned off that the show seems to have changed direction. Olivia's ensemble is getting less airtime. Not enough Abby, David Rosen and Huck.
It was fun for about thirty episodes, but once we met Olivia's father, her dalliance with Jake, her " I will wait for you", his answer "Don't bother", "You have to EARN me", Defiance., and those looooong diatribes by Liv, Cyrus, Fitz, Mellie, the janitor
I'm down to Modern Family as my sole ABC show.
