May 28, 2007 marks the 30th Anniv. of this horrific fire. On May 28, 1977 in Southgate, KY (across the river from downtown Cincinnati), John Davidson was scheduled to begin another performance in the huge showroom called the Cabaret Room that evening. Tragically a fire broke out and 165 employees and patrons lost their lives that night. John Davidson managed to escape but his music director Douglas Herro lost his life. Reports I've read state John Davidson rarely speaks of this tragic night. Mr. Davidson is mentioned in many of these commorative, tribute type articles.
RIP Mr. Herro.

Yes, that is very tragic. I guess that everyone would understand why John rarely speaks of the sad and horrible event.
Even if just a few had perished, that would be a dreadful memory, but 165 is quite a large number of fatalities. The entrances must have been blocked to cause such a thing? The nightclub must not have had windows to break through?
The fire must have spread rapidly to cause as much damage and as many casualties as it did. That's all very sad.
