Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Dido

I enjoyed her previous albums a lot, but her recent album "Safe Trip Home" is really not worth buying. For starter, none of the songs from STH is memorable. The lead single "Can't Believe In Love" sounds pretty dried and boring. In fact, the whole album is very dried and seems lacking melodies. However, i do admit that Dido has put on a lot of efforts into it such as the music and lyrics that she's chosen to sing are simple but clean; there are some very good message behind the songs which i like - "Look No Further", "Safe Trip Home" and so on. All in all compari2000ng with her previous works, there's no a single spectacular song in the new album. I still can't believe it took her 5 years to make this.

I really hope you've taken the time to listen to this album again. You clearly haven't given it the attention it deserves. The lead single is 'Don't Believe In Love' not 'Can't believe' and Safe Trip Home is the album title, there is no title song though you've mentioned it as one you like.
      Confused here.

I really like it. It's a grower and a lot more understated than her other albums but it is a really good record once you get into itthe songwriting in beautiful. It's understable Dido wanted to write something "darker" after her dads deathand I get why she didn't promote it much as its a lot less commercial than her other albums. I'm excited to hear her new album though (released this year).

Her songs Grafton Street and The Day Before The Day are very memorable, they are from safe trip home. No Angel was an instant classic but Safe Trip Home is an acquired taste, like olives or Donnie Darko. I found this with Life For Rent as well; I had to listen to the songs about 3 times before they grew on me and I love them now, all of her songs I find are amazing. Just like I had to eat olives for quite a long time before I really liked them, and I had to watch Donnie Darko twice before I appreciated it.
I'm not scared! I'm a little terrified maybe.
