Maggie Gyllenhaal is not ugly at all. I believe that she looks amazing and have found her to be fascinating and engaging

It's nothing to do with a matter of taste. Sure, people will always disagree on beauty. But you do not call someone ugly unless they are grotesquely disfigured and even then, I wouldn't use the term because it's insensitive. In my opinion, the word is definitely overused these days. People tend to drop it over anyone they find "unpleasant" or "unappealing".
Maggie Gyllenhaal is clearly
far
from ugly, those who have an issue with her face or aren't partial to her looks should choose a more appropriate term ("She's not my cup of tea, but I can see why others would like her"). Calling Maggie "ugly" when she clearly has a lot of appeal is just a massive exaggeration.
Anyway, if we're going to talk taste, she fits mine perfectly. Natural, intelligent and with a gorgeous smile/eyes. What's not to like about her? -

I don't think she's attractive but she is a very good actress. I saw her on Broadway recently and was more impressed with her than I expected to be. I like that she has played sexy roles. It's always refreshing to see someone other than a perfect Hollywood beauty playing those roles.

Even though she doesn't do much for me, I found it actually kinda refreshing to have an average looking leading lady in a superhero movie. It gets kinda boring in my opinion having stick-thin blondes as the love interest in these films, as in just another cliche.
I also think it was a kind move on the behalf of the producers to give plain girls the hope that some day they could have a shot at having two confident, rich and powerful playboy-prettyboys like Aaron Echkart and Christian Bale fight over them, presumably for their "personality". -

Thought someone would have posted this article already, but yeah, I find it ridiculous that someone told her she was too "old" to be a leading lady to some 55-years old actor, especially because she's still young! Some 25-year old fool must've told her that.

I don't understand why some people think she's ugly-I've always thought that she's beautiful in an old-school kind of waylike a leading lady of the 40's/50s. I've never gotten all the hate she getssimply because she played a role in a Batman film? Good griefyou'd think she stabbed somebody's mama with all the hate that gets thrown her way on here! -

Bette Davis, to me, fit the mold Hollywood created for her as the "shrewd", "don't-mess-with-me" intimidating intellectual type pretty well. Maggie, however, is less easy to categorise. That's why people are confused and ultimately many cannot warm to her because she doesn't fit into a box like your examples (Aniston, Diaz et al).

You're very correct there. But I have often told myself I don't like people in the past, only to later realise that I had no grounds to base that on and ended up admiring them. In fact, some of my best friends were hard to stomach at first.

she is unusually ugly, its mostly her face, which i can pick apart right here, she has an elongated tortoise neck, egg-shaped head, squinty yet sunken eyes and eye sockets, high cheekbones even though the rest of her face does not work well with her high cheekbones, because she has no jawline basically, not to mention a surprising amount of crows feet and other wrinkles that her age would say she shouldnt have yet, a nose that is also sunken in yet pokes out at the very end just to remind you of how bad her side profile is. i mean i could go on, but i shant.
thats just above her shoulders, below however gets much worse, basically the best part about this woman is hopefully between her legs, because she better have a sweet vag if she wants to get laid, or money, but considering she doesnt get many roles, she cant be making that much.
also also.
maggie is one of the F E W women who have done nudity and i pretty much did not enjoy the nudity at ALL, which is to say very disappointing. i mean i feel bad for this chick, she is a decent actor but f#ck sake god hit her a few times with the ugly stick and it is a shame. -

people playing the 'ugly' card have an inferiority complex, you get it in a lot of ways, if you lack confidence, feel jealousy towards someone for their success, or because you dont feel that you look as good as someone else you put them down to try and even up the score.
its a bit sad really,
