Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Bill Hinzman

    iamlocated-1 — 17 years ago(June 05, 2008 08:39 PM)

Bill came to town a few years ago for a horror con. This movie was playing.. For some reason or another I missed it. I now wish I would have seen it on the big screen. It has everything you would expect from an 80's horror flick.. I loved every minute of it.
Thank god for Netflix, I can now watch this little gem in the privacy of my own home.
It's not going to win any Oscars. But you must remember, in the 80s there really wern't any rules. Personally I thought the cinematography was pretty decent. The editing and color were both better than expected.. I was impressed with the sound quality although the soundtrack left a bit to be desired. But hey.. it's a low budget 80's flick.. It's not like they could afford Van Halen. The music does work though.. It's not overbearing. Typical synthesizer tracks, which surprisingly work really well for this film.
Another shocker from this film is that the acting is not all that bad. I've seen 4 million dollar budget films in which the actors look like they are reading off cue cards. You can tell that a lot of love went into this flick and Hinzman had a passion for making it.
The scenery is also something I am a big fan of.. There is something about Bum beep Pennsylvania that just screams spooky. John Russo was able to capture the same element in "Midnight"
So I must congratulate Bill Hinzman on this film. I came into it expecting a disaster and was pleasantly surprised.
I give this film two thumbs up.. It's a must have for any 80's horror junkie.

Flesh Eater was great! I really enjoyed it and in fact, I met Bill Hinzman today and I couldn't wait to tell him how I saw the film last week and that I liked it very much.
And good call on Midnight, both of these films do have a spooky look to them. John Russo was also at the con, though I didn't get to talk with him. I did like the original poster they had for Midnight hanging on the back of his booth.

Nice review, indeed. I actually saw this movie when it first came out because my Dad acted in it as Farmer Ned - I was about 12 at the time. My husband and I rented it again after all these years and quite enjoyed it.
A little side note, I met Bill a couple of times as he was friends with my Dad and he was a real class act. I'm glad to know there are fans of this little film
