Did his visionary thinking and engineering feats not make the world a better place for mankind?
    Just curious what you think.

      For the hospital bed alone!

You've got that right. Very few people survive 78% burns over their body.

Oh agreed, not only he could survive a devastating aircraft accident (one of the worst single passenger accidents EVER) but I really meant was the hospital bed he was in was so uncomfortable he designed a new one and we still use them today. A genius, an absolute genius!

Did you see the redesigned bed on the 2 disc of the "Aviator"? I still cant see how he survived that crash. Photos are on the same disc and with the damage it appeared as if a jet crashed in a residentual area but it was him doing 155 mph and the tanks full of gas.

I did see it on disk 2, the documentary on the History channel. Do you know if anyone on the ground was killed or injured, if they said I must have missed it.

I dont recall if anyone was injured or killed but I suspect they wouldn't mention it on disc 2. I noticed that disc 2 was very positive and didn't reflect any of HH personal problems in detail. The only exception would be his addiction to morphine and codeine in his hospital stay. I went to ebay looking for crash information under HH. I suppose I will need the best biography available to satisfy my curiosity.

They don't just hand out NobEL Peace Prize to anyone who's survived against all odds. If Gandhi didn't get one, Hughes sure the hell didn't deserve one, despite how nice he may have been.

He may not have deserved a "peace prize", as he didn't really do anything for peace, but every time he attempted something he set for it new standards and records. He deserved a Nobel prize in some form or another.
