Why does she only film in Canada?

From what I've read, she's talked about growing up in the Canadian film industry and her family worked in it so it sounds like she's loyal to it. It also sounds like she's not interested in getting caught up in the Hollywood scene. I forget the exact quote but she once said something like, "L.A. is hot all the time and the people are always happy. It's not normal." She comes off as a private person so she probably doesn't want TMZ up in her personal business.

That makes me like Isabelle even more. I live on the northern side of California (near San Francisco), where, despite having our hot days, we still get really cold ones and people are most definitely NOT happy all the time.

A lot of Canadian actors only do Canadian films because of how the way Hollywood productions that are shot in Canada work. Usually when an American film is filmed in Canada a certain portion of the cast and crew have to be Canadians. That usually means that someone like Isabelle is going to get cast in a large speaking role. If she was in America she would have to start from the beginning and have to audition for smaller parts. Plus Canada has a smaller pool of actors to choose from so it's not as competitive compared to Hollywood.
