First, because they'll tell you. An actress, and the producers, will want you to know if that's really her up there. Her nudity is part of what sells the film (and the actresses career).
Second, because if it's actually her, then her face will be shown in the same shot as the rest of her body. If she's turned away from the camera, or if the shot cuts of16d0f above the breasts, it's not her. -

"LOL!! It is about the art so she does a trash film like Freddy vs Jason but won't do nudity? She has her priorities screwed up. It is about money. If it was about art she would never do a film like Freddy vs Jason in the first place. She could get more roles and make more money if she took her clothes off in films."
- There is this thing called bills that some people have to pay, believe it or not.
And it says on her bio page that she had a body double for her shower scene in Freddy vs. Jason. I'm just going to guess you didn't read that.

I forget where I read it, but she says that went into Freddy vs. Jason expexting to do a non-standard horror flick. She was disappointed to find out how the film actually turned out, but she was contracted to do it. Personally I think she should have seen how the movie was going to turn out when she read the script, but maybe they changed it after she got on board.

Honestly, nudity does nothing for a film. Can anyone really name a movie, besides porn, that nudity has helped further the story? That wasn't just in the film to say, hey look there's someone's tit?
Before anyone starts attacking someone because they won't do nudity, think about the double standard. Guys aren't asked to do nudity, except maybe showing they're asses. And the reason is, nudity is really only in films for guys and guys don't want to see someone else's penis on the screen, especially when it's twenty feet big! Hell, you show one guys' penis on screen and most times the movie becomes NC-17, but put in a locker room full of topless girls and it's only rated R.
Most woman even don't care if there's nudity on screen or not. Nudity is only in films to entice guys to watch it and recommend to their friends.
And who cares if they pose in magazines in their underwear? They're not nude, are they? Did they ever say, "I'm not going to pose provocatively in magazines"? No, so they're not hypocrites. If they were hypocrites, they'd say "I'm never going to do a nude scene or pose for nude pictures" and then later on they'd do it.
