I can understand her stance on nudity, whatever her reason. She's made her choices in her career when it comes to location and other things and luck has swung in the direction it has. Can it close doors for her because she won't strip? Yes. But not so many, I think, that she'd be unable to still break through with the right role.
Even if she was willing, her decision not to go nude in Freddy V. Jason is, in my opinion, the right one. Not because nudity in movies is always about flesh but because of how cheesy it is to be the naked girl in a slasher flick.
Had it been a serious movie with a solid script, the kind of thing that could catapult her career if she nailed it, it'd be understandable, but being the naked chick in a horror movie or a frathouse comedy is more likely to hurt her career as she'd risk being typecast in the worst way.
A perfect example of this is Diora Baird. Beautiful girl with an amazing body, she came into fame when her lovely breasts were seen jiggling in the movie "Wedding Crashers" and the majority of the roles she's had either have her naked, in her underwear or showing off the cleavage. Saddest thing is that she realizes it but, even a couple years younger than Katherine, she's unlikely to break out of the mold she's been set in. She chose to be nude for nudity's sake and it's fed her badly and she knows it.
From wikiquote:
"Most of the time you're playing the crazy girl or the stripper - always the stripper! I mean, how many strippers can I play? I can do a lap dance phenomenally, and that's not a good sign, because I'm not a stripper"
"I'm aware that people see me as a sex symbol, and its getting me attention. But I know I can act."
Seeing this you can understand, without even going into personal beliefs, Katherine's refusal to go nude. From a professional standpoint it could ruin her. It's better to do mostly straight to DVD and/or B-Films with your clothes on and hope to land a serious role than to strip once and have no argument against it when they wave a bunch of cash to see your ts, especially when it's mostly in straight to DVD and B-Films anyway.

I have so much respect for Katie's firm stance! Shows how much character she has and how resolute she is. Besides, if I ever saw her naked I wouldn't find her attractive at all anymore. It's just so much fascinating and sexy in a non-vulgar way not to know what exactly her bits and pieces look like.

This is great!
She refused to do nudity and, by far, the longest discussion on this messageboard is ABOUT HER REFUSAL TO DO NUDITY!
She is not all that well known and doing nudity certainly would not help nor harm her acting career.

"She is not all that well known and doing nudity certainly would not help nor harm her acting career."
It could help but the problem is, as I pointed above with the example of Diora, that it'd more than likely be something that would typecast her.

It would typecast her, until she does a number of other roles not requiring nudity.

"It would typecast her, until she does a number of other roles not requiring nudity."
It's not that simple though, as I've pointed out before it's a slippery slope. If the right role were to pop up for her it'd happen but it'd likely be that she'd continue to be offered roles involving nudity and unlike the established actresses who had taken it off she doesn't have the clout to get past that as easily. Acting involves an incredible amount of luck to make it big, when you dig a hole by stripping for some slasher or frat flick you're going to need even more luck.

No, Luck. There are incredibly talented people who have never gotten their big break across the world in every known field. Talent alone can't compensate for not being seen at the right place at the right time. If you want to call it something else, fate or whatever that's fine but talent alone, talent and desire can only get you so far.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..if she did nudity her career would have existed in a professional world filled with flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles.
..or..you know, maybe that's just me.

the fact that she has such a high opinion of her self and her craft that she won't do nude scenes as a rule, yet he gets naked in a film called feddy jason is just a hilarious piece of irony.
she's definitely the kind of girl you want to throat beep. -

She didn't get naked in Freddy vs. Jason, body double was used and the director Ronnie Yu was seriously pissed at her and the relationship was strained rest of shoot with her. She shoulda gotten nakedshe's gorgeous, now show us what we really came for!

Actually, a starlet going nude has such a mixed history of success that she'd probably do better without it:

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2004-12-03/news/0412040066_1_scene- in-short-cuts-nude-nudity
And here are some stars who appeared on the cover of Playboy at the zenith of their careers, and for most of them, it was downhill from there:

I don't have any statistics, but I would say nudity as a career enhancer for females is about as reliable as a rain dance. You might point out to a lot of women who started their careers going nude, but on the other hand, it's hard to point to all the ones whose careers went nowhere after a nude scene, because nobody knows who they are.
Who'd a thought there are some things enough erect penises can't do? There's nothing in an actresses job description that requires nudity. -
