Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Luke Kirby

    My reactions:

    1. I found it odd that he describes himself as "a man in the public sphere". Isn't he overestimating his celebrity a bit? Hardly anyone knows him and Take This Waltz was not a big hit (although it was a great film and unusual in its undramatic, sensitive focus on a woman's inner life). Maybe he's much more well-known in USA/Canada than here in Europe??
    2. I don't get the description of Daniel's character as being in a dark place before he meets Margot. He's said that a few time in interviews and I know in an earlier version of Sarah Polley's script it was mentioned that his parents died in a car accident when he younger, but that 'darkness' doesn't come across in the final film, I think. Sure he's artistic and lives in the beginning by himself, but who's to say that reflects depression?

      hi cathy
Re your reaction 1) it was an answer to the question:
What is the best way to break up a couple?
Isn't that what Kirby did in real life to his now wife and her ex Will Patton?
      Answering it would be awkward.

Oh I see, thanks for explaining.
I read my post again - seems a bit negative now. Should add that I liked Luke's performance in Take This Waltz 🙂

He's not married. That info is false.
