Anyone else think he sucked total butt in Black Eagle?

I liked him in Shogun Warrior, but in Black Eagle, he's a crap fighter, and his accent is so thick I'd buy the movie on DVD just for the subtitles, if it wasn't so terrible.
I was rooting for Van Damme in every fight, because I know that he can make a decent fight scene, whereas Shoichi, poor sod, hasn't got a hope.
I'll look out for his other films so I get more of an idea than this one, but goddamn, they better be better than this one or I'm gonna sue him for wasting an hour and a half of my life

A crap fighter? What do you know about martials arts anyway? Like you are some kind of an expert or grandmaster. Just shut your mouth about his fighting cuz clearly you couldn't do better yourself in a movie.
You know what, his accent is fine, he speaks understandable english. I do agree with you that sometimes it was hard to catch him, and I do agree I felt relief to have subtitles to understand all of his lines. But I wouldn't be that critical on his english accent. He's after all Japenese.
I wouldn't root for Van Damme anyway, because the movie was very bad in my opinion. His screen presence was nice but it didn't do us much since we both know Van Damme is much more interesting and better then this. -

Wow, I wa an opinionated ass back then. Rather a fan of Sho now that I've seen some other stuff. But way to go to you for being a typical IMDBer. Someone states an opinion and gets told to shut up with a dose of sarcasm.
How is it clear that I couldn't do better from having an opinion not in favour of this movie? So happens I'm a decent choreographer myself. Let's just say our posts cancel each other's out, maybe in three years you'll look back and think you were annoying too
