Not the best Bond, but infinitely more enjoyable than…

Moore may have been okay in 73, but by the late 70s he was way too old for the character and the whole idea of him bedding Grace Jones made my scrotum retract. It was the equivalent of watching my grandfather bedding a cheap hooker and unable to get it up and almost certainly the reason they finally replaced him.
My major problem was that I had known him as the Saint for many years and therefore couldn't be Bond, that and the fact the hair changed colour. Having Craig totally change the character was one thing, having Moore replace Connery was, to me, a failure. -

Any hardcore Bond fan will tell you that OHMSS is one of the best in the entire series. It had one of the best musical scores, the best woman, some of the best action scenes and a three dimentional story. It was also one of the closest movies to FLeming's original book.

I agree, OHMSS did have the best musical score of all the Bond films. Plus the most beautiful Bond girl of them all (Diana Rigg). The ending was the most sad and heartbreaking ending of any Bond film.
George had big shoes to fill and he did it well. Roger Moore grew on you later but after that the Bonds never grew on me even though I never miss a new Bond movie. -

I agree with you on a couple of takes. First off your saying you hated Sean Connery as Bond because you personnaly don't like him as a person. That's fine.
I agree that Geroge Lazenby should have continued in more Bond films. Roger Moore made Bond more fun. Dalton and Brosnan made Bond to serious. It's a movie for crying out loud, you have to make it fun for the audience. Im not sure about Craig yet. -

Lazenby was good and would have been a great Bond had he played in 3-4 films. And OHMSS is the greatest Bond film. It has a very good Bond, a great villain, the greatest Bond girl and one of the greatest music scores in Bond history. The film is slow paced and for some that is a problem but those can not be fans of Fleming's 007 as that is how the novels are. OHMSS is very similar to the novel which is why fans of Fleming (like myself) love this film. On top of that it has some of the greatest action scenes in history.
However, there is one bad mistake in it. Why doesn't Bond kill Blofeld in the end. Fleming's character would have made sure he was dead. Then he could have married his wife and quit the service.
The reason is obvious. The ending is different in the novel (in which Blofeld escapes from Bond) and if Bond had finished Blofeld off Tracy wouldn't have died in the end and thus the film would not have been as great. I still wish they had let Blofeld escape in the end like he did in the novel as that is more realistic. But I can live with one little fault. The rest of the film is perfect. -

Imagine if Lazenby had continued to play Bond until 1979 (in "Moonraker"),
and then made way for Timothy Dalton in 1981 (in "For Your Eyes Only") -
without Roger Moore, there would be no 'clown' Bond or 'grandpa' Bond! -

I still feel bad for George Lazenby, he got run out of the Bond role as well as get2000ting some bad advice from his former agent. I feel he would have been a great James Bond if he had made more movies after his first Bond film. After first viewing OHMSS I was very suprised, I personally felt it was an excellent movie and George's acting was quite good. If anything Lazenby brought true action to the James Bond films, after all he was professionally trained in unarmed combat which only made him an even more belivable Bond as opposed to the others when in fighting and action sequences.

There all good except for daniel craig, casting him as bond has just destroyed the hole franchise for me, everyone else loves him, and good on ya. But to me he shows know sign of James Bond. and my god if there gonna keep him going for a few more films, sombody please buy him a comb, his hair is bugging the beep out of me, bond is not suppose to have messy hair like that. And please don't bring up the hole book argument, I don't care what bond was like in the book's its the movies I was interested in, and they have totally killed it for me.
I say, almost two years later.
