Who's hotter Jayne Mansfield or Marilyn Monroe?

Marilyn Monroe was never one of history's most beautiful actresses in my opinion, but there's just SOMETHING about her that's hard to pinpoint. I think she and Jayne are about equal, even though I actually prefer Marilyn's body; Jayne's curves are SO extreme and exaggerated I find it less attractive. Facially it's probably too close a call for me (and it's amazing how much Mariska resembles her), they look very different but both beautiful.

Jayne might actually have the sexier body, but in addition to being a much more talented and intriguing screen presence, Marilyn is simply more beautiful in the face. It might be unnatural because she went under the knife (though, how much, really? A simple nose job?), but Marilyn is certainly more classically beautiful, a softer beauty. Jayne could be beautiful in certain poses or shots like in The Girl Can't Help It, but in other photos and films, she's no great beauty to me in the face.

I think with Jayne it really depends on the photo or film. Sure, Marilyn wore a lot of makeup, but even in photos where she's not as heavily made up she looks wonderful. Maybe Jayne just wore weird makeup sometimes, or her weight fluctuated. She just looks eccentric half the time, though always sexy.

I don't understand the difference. It's like she had a big nose and jaw and wasn't being photographed from her best angles or posing well for most of her life.
But I mean if you really want to talk natural (though soft) beauty, meaning someone who (seems like she) didn't have to wear too much makeup, that would be Grace Kelly. -

Jayne's face tended to change because she often did her own make up after she was released rom FOX and also, the alcohol abuse made her face EXTREMELY puffy. FOX really knew how to make her look good though. She was very overweight when she did A GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN but in the filmthanks to the FOX make up departmentshe looks stunning.

She does look stunning, and I am sure you know a whole lot more about JM than I could ever hope to know!
But I just went over to YouTube to have a look, and I wonder. was she really "very" overweight?
I mean, her legs look slender, including her thighs. And her face looks more or less what it always looked (gorgeous). Her bosom, of course, is overflowing, but that's a given.

Like a lot of women sometimes La Jayne made herself look different by wearing too heavy makeup. She was naturally pretty, she didn't need much. I do like her 1966-67 look, especially with the long hair, but somehow her baby face features looked odd with the false eyelashes and Cleopatra-like eyeliner. But then that was the look of the decade.
Had Marilyn lived on throughout the 1960's we would have seen her in the same type makeup. She was already looking 1960's chic in some of Bert Stern's pictures.
