I have only seen one photograph of Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe together.

In the 1961 Golden Globes Jayne made a wiggling appearance from all the way in the back of the room to the podium. Jayne proceeded to ham it up with Mickey Rooney who became totally flustered when La Jayne's dress strap came off as he was delivering a speech, accepting the award for Cantinflas.
Marilyn was there that night and sitting right near the stage towards Jayne's right. In the long shots you can see Marilyn applauding wildly at Jayne's antics. MM also was laughing at the whole scene with Rooney's face coming nose first with La Mansfield's ample bosom. At some points Jayne can be seen looking in Marilyn's direction and giggling. I think both girls were in that the joke was on the rest of the world and not on them.
Do you have a video of this? I'd like to see it, I have seen Jayne with Mickey Rooney before but not one where you can see Marilyn laughing. -

You can see Monroe from the back. Look to the left corner of the screen. The back of MM head is blurry at times, but at times you see her blonde hair and in on stance she turns around to whisper something to someone sitting in the back of her. Most of the time you can see her applauding Jayne.

I am a big Marilyn fan and I appreciate JayneLOVE her performance in "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter"
However, Marilyn was NOT at that Golden Globes ceremony. MM did the GG's in 1960, when she won for "Some Like Hot" and in 1962 when she took the World Film Favorite award. In the spring of '61, Marilyn was in and out of various New York hospitals, then in Florida with Joe D. There were no industry appearances for Marilyn in '61, aside from the premiere of "The Misfits" in Manhattan.
As to picture of MM and Jayne, I have seen two from that night. The one described here, and anotherin neither is she looking at Jayne, who is practically on top of her. Jayne was hard to miss. I think MM was doing her best not to have a "Sophia Loren" moment. (Jayne upstaging Loren1c84 at a party in Sophia's honor, flashing her bare nipplesliterallyin Sophia's face.)
Marilyn was hurt by George Alexrod's play, in which Jayne's movie star character was clearly based on MM and mocking her aspirations to become a better actress. She probably wasn't too happy to see Jayne. When she ran into Axelrodwhom she considered a friendshe only said. "I saw your play." -

Dear Deswhere are you? We haven't heard you in a while? Anyway, absurd story by Mature. The footage is there for all to see. Monroe curtsies and Mature stands next to her with both hands at his sides. The dress was eye-poppingly low, but she was clearly well supported and taped up for maximum effect and "foundation." It would have taken a lot of "action" to make one of those puppies fall out.

Oh, DesI'm sorry. Last year at this time I was battling pneumonia, so I know how depressing it can be. Get better soon!
Ah, that golden dress! But MM would never have gone the "wardrobe malfunction" route. She had one shoulder strap popThe Olivier press conference in New Yorkbut that was a clever way of letting the press and public know she hadn't gotten "high hat." She was still sexy MM, despite The Method. And there was no danger of her breast being exposed. Her clothes were truly fitted to her! (Her cleavage was even more on display when she attended the opening of Miller's play in London. But again, it was securely anchored within the red velvet bodice.)
She does fall out of her flimsy silk dress for a second in "The Misfits" bending over Clark Gable after he stumbles drunkenly. -

I just watched this clip on youtube of Jayne & Mickey from the 1958 Golden Globes and did notice a blonde sitting up front in the audience, but this blonde haired woman can't be MM because she has shoulder length hair. I've never known MM to wear her hair that long, and if I do a google search on MM golden globes 1958 nothing comes up 2000& surely there would be pics if she had attended the ceremony.

As for the pics of MM & Jm, I too have been fascinated by them & they story behind them. There are 3 that I have seen so far. 1 with Jayne making her way over to Marilyn, another photo of JM behind MM (with JM touching MM's chair), in this photo looks like the photographer tried to get their attention, with only MM looking up, as JM looking down at MM..

and then the 3rd pic is the on the OP mentioned. I have often wondered why there are no pics of the 2 actresses standing next to each other. Maybe there are others from this series that have yet to surface.

SorryMM was not at the 1961 Golden Globes. 1960when she won for "Some Like It Hot" and 1962she won as "World Female Movie Favorite."
Most of 1961 was spent in New York, recuperating from various hospitalizations or in Flordia w Joe D. -

Monroe is certainly doing her best to ignore Jayne. I mean, JM is inches from her, and how on earth do you miss something like that?! Marilyn had been very hurt by the characterization of her in "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter," written by a man she considered a friend, George Axelrod. So, while she might not have had a personal animus toward Jayne, she wasn't going to be photographed acknowledging a girl who had mocked her on Broadway and was co-opting the more obvious aspects of her image.

When Axelrod come on board to adapt "Bus Stop" for the screen, Marilyn met with him. "I saw your play" she said without elaboration.
