Just like Russ Meyer said. Take a close look at some photos.

She was really only a DD when she was famous. It also helps that she was rather slim (I think the generally accepted stats were 5'7" and 115-120?) so her chest area is much more prominent.
In today's world, though, a lot of women can just get fake ones so -

'aren't measurements and cup size the same thing?'
no,nothing alike. Are you a man?
Measurements mean mostly nothing with the breasts, it's the cip-size that defines how big they are. For example, a woman can have a 32" chest and size D-cup,while a 38" inch chest can be a B cup.
You never guessed this would fall into "you learn something new everyday" (lol)
'For that time period, anything more than a D was remarkable. I think most women are only Bs or something'
So you already know. I'm confused. -

Correct. Jane Russell and Elizabeth Taylornow those girls had very big breasts! As did Janet Leigh (unusual because Leigh was so slender, but they were hers and they were BIG.)
Monroe's bosom was not huge either. Though it often looked that way because she was plump for a number of years. And MM knew the value of those 1950's bullet bras. (In movies like "Let's Make Love" and "The Misfits" where she is often bra-less you can see she is of a normal size. I don't count "Some Like It Hot" because MM was heavily pregnant there, and her bust looked extremely lush.)
Jayne also had quite a tiny waist, so what was above was naturally going to look more impressive. -

Jayne looked underweight in Panic Button to me. From what I read, she was practically starving herself to look the way she did in 1957, and later 1962. The way she looked in In Too Hot To Handle seemed her natural size.

Whereas in something like 'Too Hot To Handle', she is overweight and over bosomed, enormous behind, I mean huge, she is freakish and cartoonish.
She still had baby weight on her from Mickey Jr's birth.
Dammit Carol Sue, where is the vodka?! -

Dear DesElizabeth's bosom was huge. Look at her in many of the early MGM films, when she was slender, before she began having children. The only time she lost her bust was in 1984, after Betty Ford; she was so pleased with the weight she dropped after rehab she just kept going. She herself said, "I went to far. I was losing my bust!" She was slender, but not skinny when she married Larry.
Oh, and in "Cat" her bosom doesn't look very big. That's because she lost a tremendous amount of weight after Mike Todd's death. When she was "normal" sized, in terms of her weight, the girls were enormous. When she gained, the continent had to be evacuated to accommodate the breasts of La Liz. -

I guess in today's world with all of the silicone implants and Z cups.maybe Jayne's breasts wouldn't be considered to be so hugebut when you take into consideration the fact that they were NATURALwell there ya go. By the way she was a 46D at the time of her death, now that ain't small!
