Yes, Kilmer was a great choice to play Morrison. They're both fair skinned WASPs. But they don't really look alike. And of course Kilmer wore a ton of make-up for the role.

the look almost exactly the same which is more than good enough for me. also no one could have played him as well as val did. he not only talked like him, acted like him, thought like him but had the exact same spiritual ways of thinking and feeling about things.

        He resembles him at times
Harry Hamlin wanted to be cast as Jim when he was younger, and even said he was insulted that he wasn't considered for the role
        Are you okay?

would've been a BETTER casting choice.

he does look like him in that picture but do you really think oliver stone when making a huge undertaking that he made with the doors movie masterpiece would have casted an unknown actor who was only was known for tv like harry hamlin in the biggest and most important role in this film?

Did you know Ian Atsbury of The Cult was considered? When I first heard that I didn't believe it. I knew of Firewoman in high school but didn't get fully into The Cult until 2002 when I bought their entire discography.

The only actor I thought was the spitting image of Jim Morrison was Eric Bana circa mid-2000s. Too bad they didn’t make the movie then

In Val Kilmer's documentary, he says that he got that role in The Doors after he sent a video of himself dressed as Jim Morrison and singing a few songs and just performing like Jim Morrison. Val studied Jim Morrison and was able to convince casting that he was the best actor for the role.
He looks similar enough in the face to be Jim Morrison but it was all that other stuff Val did, that was more convincing. And it wasn't like Val was doing an impersonation either. I think Val really connected with Jim's spirit briefly and enough for the movie.
For 5 years, The Doors was my favorite movie tbh. Lol!
