The last 7 episodes won't be the same without him. However, I love the way that he went out. Whenever, I think of the last scene where he is singing and dancing to "The Best Things in Life are Free", it brings a huge smile to my face.

A great, intentionally ridiculous example of "theater of the absurd" that only that character could have pulled off.
Now that the show's over it's as if everything is gone.
I didn't dig the show as much sans Morse but it was more because of the writing. Plus the 5b4fact I liked when the show showed working men in the early sixties before the wig-wearing, costume-party later 60's. Not many movies or shows cover the early 60's or the 50[s, which was more connected to the early 60's than the late 60's The only things shown about the 50's nowadays is how everyone was racist and Blacklisting, Blacklisting, and then more Blacklisting. It was great that a show about working men, too old to care about counter-culture issues, was on TV. And Morse provided a perfect idyllic mentor throughout his run on the series. Leaving early makes him, like Obi Wan, more powerful than ever!
