I've never met Ray, but from all I've read and the interviews I've seen he looks like a very nice guy. I understand that one of the first things you learn as a stundent of martial arts is humility. And Ray has bag loads of it. I would have loved to seen him as Kroenen in Hellboy. My wife says he's a bit too stocky for the that part. Okay, maybe. But I know he could have done it. Maybe GDT can give him a (non-fighting) part in At the Moutains of Madness and we can finally see his acting chops.
Next time. Shoot first.

Old thread i know but since i've read nothing but nice things about him, i wanted to mention something that happened after Star Wars i think, could have been Xmen im not sure, but it was the start of his big rise as a hollywood star he was asked for an autograph from a kid and he charged the kid money for it.
Im sure hes mellowed out alot now, but at the time i think he'd gotten to arogant because he'd scored 2 big budget movies and figured himself a bigtime moviestar, im sure that started some of the hatred for him back then as it was all over the news. -

Starting to sound like a broken record. Happened at a con and he was charging EVERYONE for autographs. ALL the actors were charging autographs!! It wasn't up to him, it was his management and the convention organizers. If Ray had his way, he wouldn't be charging for his auto, ESPECIALLY kids!

Honestly, like many others who have posted here, I had not even the slightest inkling of any rage against Mr. Park. And with all due respect to the OP, are we sure that maybe it's not just exaggerated?
Of course, on the other hand, I don't exactly spend any time listening to the rants of nerds - or anyone else for that matter. Not to imply that anyone else is purposefully doing so either. It just seems odd to me, however, that of all people to target, you have a guy who is NOT over exposed in the media, NOT getting a bunch of leading roles left and right, NOT an egotistical big mouth talking about how great he is or how everyone else sucks and this is the guy people hate? Not to mention that he's genuinely skilled at something that leaves little doubt as to his ability. So why hate this guy?
I know, I know, there's a lot of stupid people out there. But even taking that into account, it just boggles the mind that this is a guy who gets targeted for anything bad. I mean, to have hordes of people hate you, I would think you would have to be a lot more famous than Ray Park (and NO disrespect to Mr. Park there!) to begin with. I find it a little hard to believe (not calling the OP a liar) that a simple interview response about how he would like to play Batman would generate any kind of long term hate for anyone. A bunch of negative responses, sure, that's normal, I don't care who it is, but that should blow over in less than two weeks.
Oh well, at least most of the people responding to this thread seem not to be part of the mindless rage against Ray Park, so I suppose I'll just chalk it up to an isolated incident that maybe some people are holding some weird grudge about. It's good to hear - okay, in this case, read - that there are a lot of people who say & write nice things about him. -

I was surprised to see this thread. I've always thought he was awesome, was watching GI Joe and thought it was a shame that they killed Darth Maul and never had Toad back for another X-Men movie.

I think he is great. He is one of my favorite martial artists. I don't know why people bash him, He gave a good performance in The Phantom Menace which was pretty hard to do and he was also extremely good in Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever. He even gave some good moves as Baraka in the horrendous Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

I think Ray is a pretty good actor,I liked him as Toad in X Men,It would have been cool If Ray had a cameo in Days of Future Past, they got a New younger actor playing Toad.

Watching him on "Heroes" (we (hubby and I) didn't watch till now and are "Binge" watching it now. I was just wondering why he hasn't been in a lot more ports. Love his accent and think he's a good actor. Would love to see him in more parts, in fact:)
