It's wrong on many levels to judge a person by their name though ppl do it on a daily basis. People do not name themselves and deserve at least one chance to prove their abilities beyond a name. To judge them before that is definitely very discriminatory. This broad either doesn't care or isn't aware of how offensively ignorant she is being. Its like the pot calling the kettle black with a name like Raven Symone, which isn't exactly a commonly used mainstream sound -ing name. Its a stupid ass shame that she's spewing this ignorance all while looking like some stereotypical, ghetto ass, project chick, Lucille Ball reject. With a hairstyle and makeup reminiscent of a deranged, transves -tite rooster, she has a lot of nerve talking about "ghetto names". In the past, she has complained about being discriminated against so, she goes and pulls this mess? How ironic could somebody please, slap this bitch?

Of course it's entertainment to those incapable of recognizing intelligence or the lack thereof and who can't see the importance of issues at hand and how they affect society. Everything is entertainment to people in denial.

it's ironic cause she doesn't have the most european sounding name. it's also funny how white celebs can name their kids ''bear'' and not be called ghetto, and refused a job. raven is just a microphone for white supremacist rhetoric, that the network is ALLOWING her to say. i bet raven was told to say ''watermelonlonda'' by someone white backstage. i don't think a black person (even if they are buck dancing), would make a fried chicken or watermelon comment about other black people. that's something a white racist would say.
i hope for her sake that she wakes up, before the white supremacist turn on her. just like they did with stephen a smith, herman cain, and bill cosby. white supremacists tried to do the same with michael jackson, but luckily he never made negative comments about the black community, thus he had protection.

I think her comment hit too close to home and it stings. I also think everyone knows that ghetto names are just trying to outdo the next person. And, I agree, there are a lot of white people naming their kids really strange names. It's not the kid's fault their parents weren't thinking of them when they did it. It's her opinion now, but when she's in a position to hire again, she may rethink that position. I think her point was how ridiculous some names are and a good bunch of them are hung on black children.

Too close 2 whos home? Maybe it stings some ppl. Fortunately, myself, my son, & my family members have pretty common sounding names. Abbe (Abby) In my city's black community, there are no more ppl named Abbe! 11yrs of school, I was the only Abbe til 12th grade. Another Abby came, shes caucasian. Ppl should have the right 2 name children whatever & not be discriminated against but, realistically, its not that simple in a racist & judgmental society. Ppl dont think of how it could hurt in the long run. Sadly, in some black communities, it is definitely due 2 parents trying 2 outdo one another with unusual baby names. Beyonce first came out, her name was cracked on & called "ghetto". She had a chance out of millions 2 prove herself thru personality, talent, professionalism & the sense 2 NOT take shots at her own ppl & where she comes from. Who knew she'd become a superstar pop icon? .What did Raven become? An idiot who cant remember it was "us" supporting & watching her lil corny ass on the Cosby Show & That's So Raven. It is safe 2 say, I am pissed at her clowny lookin ass 4 spewing such ignorance. STFU!!!!
