He is as typecast in his roles as that Noel Guglielmi is from Training Day, Fast and Furious, movies like that. Noel always plays the bald-headed mexican gangster tough guy. Difference between Roden and Guglielmi is Roden actually has alot of depth as an actor.

I totally agree with you. He is so unchallenged by the rolls he gets in Hollywood.
The funniest thing is that he is casted to play mostly Russian characters -and he hates it. He was going to play a Russian in "15 minutes" (and he does speak Russian!) But after a conversation with the film's Director John Herzfeld. Herzfeld allowed him to be Czech and to build more tension between Emil and Oleg.
Hopefully he will get more dignifying and diverse rolls in the near future. -

I think it's sad too. He's clearly a brilliant actor. His performance in 15 minutes is outstanding, and the film wouldn't have been half as good without the interaction between him and Oleg Taktarov. I'd happily spend money to see him in any film where they give him a role where he can show his talent to it's fullest.

He gets lots of important roles in Czech movies. The question is which movies you can get outside The Czech republic. I recommend for example
Tajnosti (Little Girl Blue) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXWElPoIyXU
or Habermannv mln (Habermann's Mill / Habermann) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ai1ltKbhmU -

Last time i was in Prague (winter 2012) there was a theater play with him. I so wanted to watch it, but theater doesn't come with subtitles

Amazed you don't mention Lidice. I thought it was fantastic acting on his part.
