She's bi-ethnic, due to the fact of her Hispanic origins. Father is Dominican and mom is Puerto Rican.b68 You can go to either islands and see dark skin men with white skin women, and vice versa with white men with black women on those two islands. How do i know this? I'm Puerto Rican, and if you look at me from a distance you could consider me a white dude, but my sister same mother and father and she came out dark skinned, and looks more ethnic. So Zoe melds into the mode because she has a very mixed background of African, Spanish and most likely a huge mix of Taino native in her blood.
So with that in thought she is a beautiful actress, that play plenty of roles and doesn't appear very fickle on who her costar is. That's my take, good day.

I would say that she is a more versatile actress because she can play several roles that include black, interracial and other possible ethnic cultures. SZ also fit the physical cha2000racteristics that society or Hollywood typically likes to see in women and Hollywood actresses, as well as portrayed in interracial relationships. In addition, it is also due to her fame from Avator, which helped her career as an actress.

the fact you have to insist you're not racist displays a certain amount of guilt, but you don't sound smart enough to see that.
I'm a white guy who loves black/dark women, so I like the pairing and it's not commonly seen in media, maybe they are targeting my demographic, or maybe it's just casting.

Zoe Saldana is a cross-over actress. She's one of the few women of color that can be cast in non-traditional black roles. Hence the reason for her having white love interests. Unfortunately a lot of black women actors are relegated to the Tyler Perry fare and haven't been able to do the cross-over. Even for black male leads like Denzel or Will if they do infact cast a black actress as their love interest her part is usually large.

Oh please the point of acting is to act. Any black actor can be paired with whomever, white Hollywood is all about who you know Saldana just has a lot of white connections from her white suitors in real life while most black actresses date black men.

I'm Black and don't consider your question or comments racist. I never really thought about it but now that you have mentioned it it's true. Most of her male love interest in film have been White and she seems to only date White men. Personally, I don't care but others may.
Unfortunately, no one here can answer that question. But, it would seem as if she does ask for her boyfriends and husbands to be White.
As I typed this I thought about the movie Constellation. It is one of few movies where she has had a Black boyfriend (Hill Harper). There is also Drum Line with Nick Cannon.

I think she was also fond of a black guy in Center Stage, but I was under the impression he was gay. I'll have to watch it again.
I think it's cool that she's into mixing. I'd do it myself, but I don't have very good luck with my love life right now (not that my girlfriend would
                  have to
be ethnically different). I did have an African American girlfriend, but things just sort of fell apart.
I'm gonna see if I can rewrite the topic title and opening post to seem less hostile.

With roles in movies/tv, directors 1. have a person or persons in mind 2. after having auditions see that a person can play a role easier 3. have to choose someone based on availability
I'm about to say something controversialbut if you close your eyes and listen to Zoe talk or Tika Sumpteryou don't assume they are "urban" (major motion pictures tend to shy away from urban. They don't sound street. That's something that a white/black/latino can sound. Zoe has soft features as well. Once she played opposite Ashton Kutcher in Guess Whodirectors may have gonehmmmm, she can play those roles well. Also, those female roles she is playing (not Zahura) but the others were likely intended for white women. Obviously, the actresses desired when the scripts were written either couldn't play the role or Zoe impressed them OR they wrote the character for herit happens. I think because she can look exoticit attracts people to her and she's a pretty good actress AND she was a part of one of the biggest grossing films EVER. That doesn't hurt. lol

I agree with you. One or two roles, I'll let her slide. But every single movie she is doing is with a white guy, and not only that it's very in your face roles and very intimate, and she's taking roles that should be given to black women, not hispanic women.

Zoe Saldana has to be cast in a movie opposite white men because if her love interest would be black it would turn into a black movie. Studios are aware of what kind of demographic they are looking for as well as the type of audience they want in the theater so having her be opposite a white male means that more white people will see the movie simple as that.

Good points there, hmmmandy, isn't that what we want from our actors to be believable with white or black actors.Zoe being a black Latina, has crossed-over in the movies. She also won't do Tyler Perry type movies.Hollywood is a white dominated place, not racist. It's because of Halle and Zoe that the doors have opened for other black actresses.

Your point is not racist. Zoe has only had white male love interests in her movies (except for 2: Drumline and Nina (biopic of Nina S2000imone). There are a mixture of reasons, some of which have been mentioned already.

                              1. She's a crossover actress, taking roles meant for white actresses.
On the other hand, she even has white love interests in "black" movies (Death at a Funeral). There was no need for her love interest in that movie to be white. There is also "Colombiana" where she had a white love interest (no need, really, since the love interest appeared for 10 minutes in the movie, and does not play a crucial role).
                              2. I think Saldana prefers white men (in real life) but also purposely goes after roles that cast her opposite white men. This is also combined with point #1.
Even Halle Berry, who, it can be argued, was, at her peak, more established than Saldana (Halle has Oscar, Golden Globes and Emmy, carried movies on her own and was one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood), has had black male love interests in her movies. She didn't just star opposite white men, and she dated black men in real life, too.
As I said. 1. Zoe gets roles meant for white females, and 2. Zoe has a preference for white men (in real life and on screen).

How do you figure she's taking roles "meant" for white actresses, as if she dosen't deserves those same roles, no matter how hard she works? She's just as talented an actress as anyone out therethat's why she's getting the good roles she's getting. She was also in one of the biggest-ever box office hits in the last decadeAVATARso that's another reason she's getting roles. I do question why she supposedly seems to have a preference for white boys, thoughthat is questionable, though, even though she's now married to one. I mean, hell, even in her ROSEMARY'S BABY TV specialwhich she producedher love interest was white. I was like, "WTF!? She couldn't have gotten someone besides a white boy to play the part? I mean,c'mon!" Hell, even in the remake of the Brit comedy DEATH AT A FUNERAL, both her character's husband and her ex were played by white dudesin an all-black cast filmthat was pretty strange in itself.

I think what they meant to say was (but worded poorly) she can play roles that aren't race specified / would normally go to a white actress.
Actors don't cast their own co-stars, and every black actress (not just Zoe) has been paired off with a white actor at least once.

Firstly, nothing you said sounded racist. But you heavily prefacing it made me suspicious.
Sadly, its a result of Hollywood standards. They don't want to promote Black & Black relationships. Mixed relations, kind of has an additional benefit that says 'they're okay with it'. But to be honest, I don't think Zoldana counts; She's mixed and it's not hard to see.
But there is a part of me, that suspects she could be lobbying for it as well, in order to protect and progress her career.

I've said this here before, but it's not just about race, it's about money. The studios are out to make money, and the highest demographic of movie goers happens to be white males. Sex sells, so females that are attractive to the largest demographic of movie goers are going to get roles (how have the Megan Fox and Jessica Alba types built careers otherwise?). Zoe Saldana is considered sexy and highly attractive by white males, despite not being white herself. It also helps that she is considered a good actress and can thus be more than just eye candy.
