she's got a bed wench mentality. she thinks the farther away she's from anything black, the better she will get treated. she even speaks in that fake spanish accent

What? Saldana spent her entire adolescence in the D.R., and she speaks Spanish. I don't understand why people can't understand that you can be BOTH black and Latina/o-how16d0 hard is that to understand. And "bed wench"what 19th century novel did you pull that from? She has already said she identifies as a black Latina (which she is) so how is that "getting away from being black"? I mean, it just seems like a lot of people are projecting their own issues abound race onto her, which is pretty sad.

i know you can be black and latina, i just don't like her attitude when it comes to being called black. too many people like her, and dominicans want to distant themselves from race, because they think they will be accepted by the dominate society. the term bed wench is still very real today. get used to it.

Black people in America are way too obsessed with race. I don't think they realize how much it actually does to help racism stay alive.
I'm an immigrant here but I've been here most of my life and black people from other countries don't have this unhealthy fanaticism that is really hurting more than it's helping.

raise right hand Excuse me, you guys are talking about the one who managed to be not only in one but three of the biggest and coolest syfy/adventure movies that an actress/actor can only dream of? Zoe is, as everyone has said all of the above Latina/Black/mixed/American/woman Queens native. So IMHO she may be doing something right ( if not ask K. Heigl how someone manages to don't get to work in any movie EVER) So I give to her such achievements.BTW she also did Crossroads with Britney Spears. You see, that's a career.. Yeah and Bye ?

When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, "Qu te consideras, dominicana o americana?" (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?) I don't understand it, and it's the same people asking the same question. So I say, time and time again, "Yo soy una mujer negra." ("
              I am a black woman
.") [They go] "Oh, no, t eres trigueita." ("Oh no, you are 'dark skinned'") I'm like, "No! Let's get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra." (
              "I am a black woman
              .")
              -Zoe Saldana-

Her parents are both BLACK Latinos, duh. FYI, black people have been in/all over Latin America since they were brought there as slaves 500 years ago. Do te research, please. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people on this board to accept the fact that there are black Latinos to begin with? That's what I don't get. And that's why I keep suggesting people look at the PBS documentary BLACK IN LATIN AMERICA, which is a few years old, but still worth watching, because it's all about the history of black people in Latin America, period.
I swear, some people on here act as if Saldana is trying to say that she's not black simply because she says that she's Latina also. Which is ridiculous, and clearly isn't true, because she chooses to claims both. Why the hell shouldn't shethat's her background. You can be from more than one culture, you know. Can't believe this is still even an issue, even long after she's made it clear that she's proud of being both black and Latina. The woman's a talented, beautiful, and vibrant actress, but all some people seem to want to do is use her Latina heritage as an excuse to claim she's not black, just so they can justify accepting her in their minds? That's some dumb, stupid-a** racist bull**** right therethat's all it is. Enough alreadygeesh!

agreed. It's annoying as hell when people try to pass off "Latino" as some different term for "race. Being Latino can apply to all races.

If she is Latina what's wrong with her saying it? Isn't it the truth? There is nothing wrong with her being proud for being Latina. You can be black Latina.

People hear someone say they're Latina or their nationality and think that is an automatic denial of their race. It doesn't cancel out anything.

Actually, there are black people who think she is not "black enough" to play Nina Simone.
                            http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/mar/3/zoe-saldana-not-black-enough-to-play-nina-simone-c/
Even though they are so proud of half-white Obama for being the first "black" president.
And then they call Ben Carson a "white supremacist" even though he is biologically "blacker" than Obama.
                            https://www.salon.com/2015/12/22/white_men_must_be_stopped_the_very_future_of_the_planet_depends_on_it_partner/
"To the contrary, given the possibility that Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson or one of their ilk might become president, white supremacist ideology seems to be digging in harder than ever."

Racially she is black(or rather mulatta in Latin American terms). Culturally she is Latina. Hence she is a black or Afro Latina. And I suppose that she could also be viewed as both an African American and Latina/Hispanic American since she's U.S. born.

Zoe would not be mulatta, her mother is mixed (trigeuno) not white.

What are you talking about? My wife is a Latina is except for her hair they are almost identical. My wife has very curly hair long tight ringlets.
Anyhow, they isn't anything about Zoe or my wife for that matter that indicates they are black.
And maybe I am a bit biased but what body type is not boney it is called healthy and exactly the way it should be for that skeletal type. I think my wife has been in bed sick 1 day in the last 16 yrs. She is honestly the healthiest person I have met. They aren't boney they just aren't stuffing their faces with whatever they want.
You sound more than a bit jealous and you sound like one of those people that thinks your belief trumps reality. Zoe or anyone else for that matter can identify with whatever the hell they want to identify with.
Now go eat another box of dnuts and complian some more about something that doesn't matter.
