I'm not entirely sure why he bugs me on that show. He seems so uptight and angry all the time. Does he act so uptight in all his roles, or it just for this show? He grates on me so much that I'm conflicted about watching the show. I like the show itself but sometimes he's just hard to watch.

Michael is hilarious, witty, and easy-going actually. He takes his roles very seriously and (especially when pla5b4ying a real-life person) will completely transform into that person. Bill Masters was a rather high-strung guy, therefore Michael will portray him as such. This is true for every character he plays.

Masters, as portrayed in the show, IS uptight and angry. Check out Sheen's work as David Frost in Frost/Nixon he plays a completely different character (and does so very well). Charming, suave, with a good dollop of TV-personality sleaze.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
