First of all, I love her as an actress and think she was good but not Oscar worthy. Janet McTeer was 1000000x better in

Its all apples and oranges though. If Janet won, someone would eventually make the same post on the Janet McTeer board.
You're right.

I must say I didn't see Albert Nobbs, but I know that Janet is awesome, seeing her in Marple. Only question, why is Albert Nobbs in nomination for 2011 anyway, since it was released in early 2012. But anyway, I'm sure she did great.
But, if you saw The Help, you must admit that Octavia was splendid, she just stole the show, even before my dearest goddess Bryce Dallas Howard. I think that she did an Oscar worthy performance, and that's what I thought when I first saw the movie.
I understand the frustration over Academy's decisions, since I'm mad Gary Oldman and Rooney Mara didn't win, but on the other hand, all nominees were at least good, otherwise they wouldn't be here at all. -

The Oscars are joke. Denzel has done way better work but won that year with Halle for political reasons and it would have made a nice story, and it sure did. Or they win in fear of seeming like a racist institution. The Oscars are like the WWE now.

agreed wholeheartedly. I don't get the point of coming to her page just to announce to the world you didn't think she deserved it. so what, she won. get over it or go find something else to whine about
Heck is where you go to if you don't believe in Gosh -

She sure didn't deserve it. I agree Janet McTeer deserved the statuette instead. I'm also a fan of Jessica Chastain's work. However a supporting actress win early in an ingenue's career is a trap. I'd like to see Chastain win for best actress.

Agreed.. there were at least 5 better performances that year..
Charlotte Gainsbourg for Melancholia.. who I think should've won
Carey Mulligan for Shame
Shailene Woodley - The Descendants
Berenie Bejo - Artist
and Jessica Chastain was also better in The Help
but hey, the Academy seems to love overweight black women.. Jennifer Hudson and Monique are good recent examples
