Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Donna Summer

    pvd295 — 13 years ago(July 02, 2012 11:08 AM)

According to TV talk show host Wendy Williams om her June 28 broadcast, she's heard that Summer's family - her husband and three daughters - are in a heated battle over how to handle the late singer's estate, which includes her expansive catalog of recordings (released and unreleased tracks and albums), as well as her art work.
Don't know how much truth is in this gossip from Williams, since she managed to misidentify the three daughters when their pictures were up, and referred to Summer's husband Bruce Sudano as 'Bruce Summer'.
Paul Ryan's proposal is a budget that goes against the teachings of Jesus.

I hope this isn't true. I remember Donna and Bruce had problems in2000 their marriage in the 80's. I hope he isn't pimping out her music and image to anyone who waves a buck. From what I've seen and heard about Wendy Williams is she's a show biz whore who seems desperate for attention and might say or do anything to get her name out thereI also don't remember Wendy being in Donna's circle of friends. From what I've seen and heard about Donna Summer is she raised a loving, normal family and knowing that she was sick, would have made out a will and left everyone with enough to take care of them.
      Update:
Wow this really bothered me, so I googled Donna Summer Estate and found this article. She does own the rights to her music, so maybe that's what they are fighting about. Personally I hope they open the vaults and we get to hear everything! But the article also states at the time of her death (even though much of her music was out of print) her estate was worth about $75 MILLION!!! I really don't think they are fighting over money, if they are fighting it could be about the music.

I believe if there was a fight going on, it would be over future royalties (same with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston). Undoubtedly, there will be future releases of her long OOP Geffen catalog which will probably sell better than the first time around.

I just checked www.donnasummer.com and the message from the Sudano family has changed. It's very nice and touching and sounds like a response to the rumors about family trouble. It says something like they are coming together to preserve her legacy and each finding their future path Check the homepage. to read it

WOW! I found this story online on Eurweb.com. I'm very sad.

"After the tragic death of singing diva, Donna Summer, theres a classic battle royal over the huge fortune she left behind.
Two of her three daughters, Mimi, 39 and Brooklyn, 31, are now throwing blows to see who is going to win most of the $75 million fortune, according to the National Enquirer.
The ladies have different fathers, which may explain the ordeal a bit. Donna and her husband Bruce Sudano are the parents to Brooklyn and Amanda, 28, while German actor Helmut Sommer, who is Donnas ex husband, is the father of Mimi.
A source says that the family began fighting very close to the singers passing.
Donna was barely gone before Mimi and Brooklyn began battling over how much money they should get, said an insider.
Mimi thinks she should get the most because she is first born, but Brooklyn made it clear that she and her sister Amanda should get more. Poor Bruce is still very upset over Donnas passing, and the last thing he needs to deal with is the daughters fighting over the money especially since Donna left it all to him, and he is being generous by agreeing to share it. Amanda is sweet and is sympathetic to Bruce. She keeps telling her sisters to stop being so greedy and give him space to grieve before making him go through all the finances.
Donna died on May 17 at the age of 63 after losing a 10-month battle against lung cancer."

Yes, this went up a few days before what would have been their 32nd Wedding Anniversary on July 16. It was a very touching, emotional statement - I think she would have been proud of the way they are dealing with the public.
