This has been obvious to anyone who paid attention to the elections since Roe v Wade was repealed. In election after election, including the 2022 midterms, Democrats have outperformed expectations, often unseating Republicans in what were thought of as safe districts. It didn't matter who Democrats ran this time and it didn't matter who Republicans ran, the Democrats would have won. This will continue.

If there’s a silver lining here, perhaps it will shift some social positions in the Republican Party. If he loses.
I am not a single issue voter. I don’t have a problem with abortion and did not like the decision. I agree with it in concept (have the states decide). Anyways, I’d still rather Trump win. If he does, there will still be states offering abortions.
I don’t really see This Election as a referendum on abortion. The scotus decision is done, there are not likely to be new appointees by potus, and the topic is now moot.
            Stop.

This election is a referendum on abortion whether you view it as one or not. The early vote is already showing very high participation among women and when they are asked why, abortion is the number one reason, even for older women. You may be ok with states deciding whether women are allowed to have control of their body, but most women are not ok with the idea that their access to life saving medical procedures is determined by what state they are born in. Letting some women die just because they were unlucky enough to be born in Texas just isn't an acceptable position.

Exactly, the (anti-)abortion laws affect all reproducing women, as we’ve seen in several states that denied care to whose suffering miscarriages.

If a majority of a state decides abortion shouldn't be an option than that's their choice. The people have spoken. You can always move.

Are you suggesting that women should just sit down and let their rights be stripped away? Women aren't going to do that. Republicans are why Roe v Wade was repealed, they are the ones who are continuing to try to strip women of their rights, and they will be punished for it.

Women are voting to hold the politicians accountable. That's what you do when they do something you don't like. That's how you get change. But yes, Kamala can do something to change the Supreme Court ruling. The president gets to choose the nominees for the Supreme Court and the next president will most likely have at least one seat they have to fill.

There’s like no chance she’s appointing anyone. This is not a referendum on abortion and we need have so many more and bigger problems. I am pro abortion.
The President cannot just shoot down the Supreme Court ruling. There’s virtually zero chance even if she appoints a justice the decision gets overturned.
                              You’re on an idealistic crusade.

It's a referendum on abortion. The new voters that will decide the election are voting because of abortion. Even if the next president doesn't get to appoint any new justices, it's always a possibility and so it will always be a reason to vote. There's 3 Supreme Court justices in their 70s.

The Senate has to vote on the nominees and it's looking like the Senate is going to be Republican majority.

Polls suggest the Democrats will hold the Senate but even if they don't the Senate will still have to vote to approve any nominee eventually. They can't hold up the vote for years. Many Republicans in the Senate, like Susan Collins, who is pro-choice, will support a pro-choice nominee because they understand how damaging repealing Roe v Wade was to their party.
