Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tim Thomerson

So maybe it's cuz I grew up with cable, but I never watched MacGyver, and regularly saw movies like Doll Man, Trancers and such. When I recently started watching Stargate: SG1, one of my first thoughts was, "Man, Richard Dean Anderson really comes off like Tim Thomerson." I thought Thomerson would have been perfect in that role. Not that I have anything against Anderson. Anybody else see the similarities, both physically and acting wise?

True, good comparison, however, I feel RDA has a little more of the smartass wiseguy type wits about him whereas TT is more of a straight face guy, a more serious guy.
RDA was perfect as Col O'Neill in Stargate. RDA and his quartet is what made Stargate amazing.
Sadly, once RDA left in Season 9, Stargate got victimized even though it was still great with the new Ori as the enemy. Sadly, it got cancelled by SciFi needlessly at the height of its popularity in Season 10.
It had easily another 2-3 seasons left in it. Ditto with Atlantis, it too had another 3 seasons at min. left in it.
Anyhoo, TT is great, but couldn't replace RDA in Stargate.
