since his box office returns in the past 3 films have not been very good
it is why pacific rim 2 and hellboy 3 aint happened aswell as the reason at the mountains of madness fizzled out and why his pinocchio film that he has been attached to since 2012 hasn't had any movement
so he may need a dc comic book film -

The question is, after suicide squad will anyone care about JLD?
Constantine failed on television, and JDL's roster is pretty unknown to most.
Keep in mind early buzz for Suicide Squad was centered around The Joker, it's possible R rating, and Will Smith kinda playing a bad guy.
I'd like to see Del Toro succeed as much as anybody, maybe Pinnochio would be a good fit, or some other gritty Disney movie they'll come up with, but we'll have to wait and see.
Personally if I was Disney I would have moved mountains to get him to do Beauty and the Beast, but maybe he thought it'd be too close to Crimson Peak. -

I honestly couldn't see anybody else doing this. The way he NAILED Hellboy (movies actually did pretty well at BO) leads me to believe he can do the same with JLD.
His script is being used and I would love to see his depiction of the characters. Swamp Thing would look bananas.
