You guys definitely need to talk.privately. Neat that more than one of you in this thread know JMT. The Private Messages link is in the upper right hand corner of this page.
WOW, his is quite a story!
The tragedies in his life and going from anonymity to acting on one of the greatest TV shows/sitcoms in history, is quite a big thing for him, even if he was in the background most of the time and was only a semi-regular. I'm sure the show paid him quite good.
I didn't really like his character, Gunther, on Friends, but I'm sure he is a good, solid guy in everyday life. I'm glad he was able to rise above those tragedies and make a decent life for himself. -

I knew James Michael Tyler in high school. We attended T.L. Hanna, Anderson, S.C together from 1976 - 1980. This is the same school highlighted in the movie "Radio" starring Ed Harris and Cuba Gooding, jr.
Back then he went by Mike. I remember that he was a good guy - a little on the quiet side with a great sense of humor.
For years while watching friends, I'd look at the Gunther character and try and figure out why he looked so familiar. It was only near the end of the series that I finally figured out that Gunther was Mike with platinum hair and now goes by James.
Oh well, I am glad that Mike has done well and wish him continued success.
