I'm fairly certain he didn't know. That's why he was surprised and hurt when she locked him out of their room on their wedding night.

From what I've read, he was beyond head over heels for her. It may not have dawned on him. Since he came from such a rural area, he may have never met a gay person (or at least been aware that the person he met was gay) prior to his first wife.

I agree. I don't think Valentino knew about his wife's sexual orientation. That's why he was so confused, hurt and betrayed.

Natasha Rambova wasn't gay. She had boyfriends before him and she remarried after divorcing Rudy. Why did you think she was gay?

Rudy lived in NYC before he went to LA and he made his living as a dancer. I'm sure he knew many gay people.

I was referring to Valentino's first wife, Jean Acker. I'm sure he knew gay people in New York, but I'm certain he didn't know about his first wife being a lesbian.
