Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tom Welling

Tell me you don't think that would be awesome?
See him on the big screen as a bad guy? That would be awesome!
Have him be a high powered executive, sabotaging someone else? A silent hitman? Murderer? Stalker?
All different roles for him and with his appealing looks he'd be perfect, because for those types of roles you wouldn't want his true nature to be evil!

Totally agree! He would be so good as a seductive bad guy! I feel this type of role would really give him a chance to shine as an actor. I wonder if it is WME (his reps) or Tom just not getting the roles offered to him. Just w111cish he would make a movie soon. I fear the longer we go without seeing him in a movie, the closer we get to the end of his acting career. I fear the producers and directors aleady feel he can't draw a big enough audience. I disagree with this, but we won't know unless somebody gives him a chance.

Tom looked like an angel, a gentle person and a bit naive, 10 years ago. Now he looks more mature. And this will enable him to play more difficult roles.
Tom should use his beauty as a weapon , to scare. In interpreting Clark Luthor, Tom has approached this diabolical side , another step in his career.
So I see him as the major bad character in a movie. Tom should not be the third or fourth villain who obeys orders. Tom should not play a character as Nick Castle in "Fog", an unsympathetic man who cheats on his girlfriend and does not support her
Yes , a "high powered executive" like you proposed .
Anyway, I hope he will get a major and well written role.

I think Tom did an incredible job playing the bad guy when he got a hold of the wrong kind of cryponite on smallville, it was amazing to watch the transformation from good guy to bad guy with a snap of the fingers! I think Tom is very talented and could do anything! And with that gorgeous face and body of his who really cares if he can act or not, lets admit it, we all just like to look at him! lol

The thing is, he really CAN act! He just didn't get much credit for his good work because Smallville was considered "campy" and thus not respectable material. He handled everything they gave him to do and got better every year of Smallville. Now he just needs a really good role to come his way soon!

If somehow he landed an independent movie role that got a lot of attention, he would get the best of two worlds

Smallville was not campy. Especially if you compare it to The New Adventures of Lois and Clark in the 90s.

The perfect role for Tom Welling: Steelheart, a superpowered being who is tall, handsome, awe inspiring, and completely evil. The title character and villain of the book by Brandon Sanderson, he is invulnerable, has super strength, and can turn things to steel. In a world dominated by amoral supervillains, Steelheart rules an entire city and holds demonstrations of his power and ruthlessness to make the people fear him.
Didn't we all love Tom best when he played Bizarro or Clark on red K? This is the role for him.
