I know I am late to the party, but finally watched this movie and I have to say, I hated it. The whole thing was special effects driven and the retelling of this iconic tale was horrible. Henry Cavil is good looking but he is not a strong actor. I wish they would have skipped making this movie all together. Smallville, in my opinion, told the tale in a much better way. You saw the the struggles young Clark went through and the price he paid to learn to be the hero the world needed. It focused on how he needed his friends and family to become the superhero. Tom Welling did this role to perfection and I hope that he gets the opportunity to do more great films in the very near future. Miss seeing him and the rest of the cast on my TV each week. Just a side notetoo many movies these days are all about CGI and not great acting. Hollywood is killing the great actors with over killed action! JMHO

The movie was over hyped and people wanted to see a super hero movie. That's why it made a lot of money. I will have to say that most of the people I know, who saw the movie, hated it.
As for Tom's acting, I wasn't impressed with it during the early years of Smallville, but he did get better as the seasons progressed. -

Totally agree about Tom Welling's acting. He was so green in the beginning but by season 3 and up he started to feel more comfortable. It showed in the later seasons. As for the Man of Steel - can't believe it got a sequel. That movie doesn't even need actors because it will be nothing but special effects/CGI. Give me a good old fashion movie that actually requires acting by real actors ACTING.

Your wrong tom welling would have done it way better. Tom welling is clark kent/superman. It's god damn crime that the idiots at wb and hack Snyder didn't give welling the chance he deserves. Ill never in a million years understand it.

Welling was great in Smallville. I loved that show ands the finale bringing back Rosenbaum was great.
That said, he looks to young to play the role.
I loved MoS. I am a major Superman fan though . I have seen everything every done for him.
Welling did the role he was supposed to. He would have felt or of place to me. -

I honestly think that Tom Welling didn't want to do this movie. He wants to move on to new and different things. He appears to value roles that stay away from anything that could possibly type cast him as a "super hero" role. I think he woild do another comic book role as long as it is vastly different than Superman.
