I met Andy Williams about 20 years ago at a live performance he gave at the Melody Tent on Cape Cod in Hyannis, Massachusetts. I had an aisle seat and when he was walking out after the performance, we were able to lock eyes and smile and shake hands. I'd like to get out to Branson to see him in his Christmas show, maybe I'll go this year. He's doing a Variety show in September, too.

Wow. Cameron mentions Branson in Modern Family tonight, then I just heard that Andy Williams died today. I met him in 1996. Yes, in Branson. At a restaurant near his theater after a show. I had no idea who he was when he was talking to us until it was too late. He's kind of before my time.
Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom. -

Those are very nice accounts of wonderful fans meeting the great and very polite Andy Williams. I hadn't the opportunity to have met him myself, but have also heard other great stories by those who had the good fortune to meet him.
It's often been reported how Andy helped to launch the singing careers of many young recording artists, by introducing them and their fine talents upon his many stage and television programs.
Also, it's been very noteworthy how Andy made great friends across the aisle with many great patriotic Americans such as Ethel and Robert Kennedy, and how he helped to support the lovely Ethel in her time of need.
Such a wonderful legacy of soft and mellow music, goodwill to fans and the famous alike, and very cheerful and personable to everyone whose paths he may have crossed along the way through his outstanding and magnificent career and charitable contributions.
One truly talented gentleman, who uses his talents to help others, and never to hurt anybody less fortunate than Andy. -
